Do these techniques give you an edge on the street?
TJS replied to Treebranch's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
yes they are effective, and they are easy to do..thus both partys can do them. they remove things like that so two guys dont sit there biting each other and breaking each others fingers and toes -
Boxing Defence
TJS replied to cross's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Nice post. -
The principal is to adress the imidiate danger as quickly as possible and use a simultanious or near simultaions counterattack. A very Basic example of this would be a two handed choke from the front. You use a pluck to remove the hands while simultaiously throwing a front groin kick.
-
Yes KM emphasizes Attacking the attacker as quickly as possible and not stopping until they are no longer a threat. If i hit someone with everything i had and they were not eff4ected i would run because they are obviously a terminator KM also defenses and evasion to strikes aswell as various holds and grabs.

So someone wanting to learn How to fight in a short period of time should look tword presessure points? sounds like you may have read the topic wrong..

Im not sure exactly what your asking as far as evasion, You do learn Breakfalls, rolls, etc in KM though.

I did not realize that children and old women were in the IDF. From kravmaga.no [emphasis mine]: "Upon retiring from the IDF in the early 60`s, Imi began adapting the style for civilian use. He established two schools, one in Netanya and one in Tel Aviv." First of your right about 1 thing, KM is not designed for children. as far as old women go, None of the dozens I work with rarely have a problem with with any techniques. like i said they are designed to fit a wide variety of individuals. Correct, since the majority of the time civilians will not be carrying a machine gun, knife, and other equipment. The same is true for law enforement. Certain techniques are adapted to law enforcement officers, why? because you should take into account that the officer has a sidearm, and depending on the situation you may need to factor it in in both retention and drawing of it.

You are the biggest keyborad warrior I have ever met. Cung Le would KILL you. and I dont mean that as a figure of speach. He is a dedicated martial artist and fighter who would destroy you in under 30 seconds..just like the Gracies or any of the other top fighters in the world you always talk about beating. Until you get past point fighting at your school and show some kind of credintials dont expect anyone to take you seriously..ever...so dont talk about what you will do..instead do it...that's the diffrence between people like you and people like Cung Le.

Specificly men and women of all ages and sizes since those were the ones called up to defend israel and the ones Imi designed the system for. Dont forget that men and women of a wide variety serve in the IDF.

TJS replied to kle1n's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Intresting, there are always two sides of the story i guess. all I can say is there are alot more documented challenge matches with various practicioners and styles comming from the Gracie Family Heck I have even seen two Keyboard warriors on this Forum alone talk about how they challenge the gracies and will beat them etc... -

Is San Shou the same as San Soo? these are all competition styles that focus one range of fighting. did you refer to "learn how to Fight" as to "step intp the ring and learn techniques that work there" or did you mean "be able to defend yourself against a variety of attacks"? i'm not saying that these styles dont work on street or something, just asking. No san shou is diffrent than san soo it's similar to muay thai but it has throws/takdowns. Your right most of the styles I listed are generally sport oriented. While they are not going to be 100% complete i belive they transfer over really well into a real fight for the most part. I you want a Styles that is more oriented tword street fighting I would reccomend Krav Maga. If you can find a school with fight classes even better. It's very effective and you pick ip up quicker than most styles imo.

I really dont like arguing so we can drop this here, but I will make one last comment, If Emin was challenged at the Begining of the UFC wouldent it bemore logical to Fight in the UFC instead of Challenging back? -
training both bjj and judo
TJS replied to sindian's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Cross training is always good and Judo and BJJ compliment each other nicely. Although I belive it's best to get a good base in one system before you add another. Personally as other's have said I would Start BJJ first. -

Im sure a well known NHB fighter and Pride FC veteran would go make up a video of him beating up a kung fu master. what would that prove? He fought because he was challenged by the KF Master. -

Knee to the Collarbone
TJS replied to Ozaru's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I would rather use a hamerfist to the collarbone. If you get a clean break they are going to be fighting you one armed.
