  1. I wouldn't consider throws or chokes a groundfighting technique, but that's just me. I'd say joint manipulation types of moves are grappling. he said grappling not ground fighting...you do know that you dont have to be on the ground to grapple right? Chokes and Throws are most certainly grappling. Dosent say anything about having to be on the ground.
  2. Hey, I like driving my suped up Trans Am too, but I'm not going to go out and drive in a Nascar event. scardy cat. he has proabably done alot more than you ever will.
  3. he won by taking his opponet down and achieving the mount position. he also won a fight or two by arm-bar....sounds like a grappler to me.
  4. thats somethign else, although it is a mma type event
  5. Is a Movie Just released on video by the Machado brothers, while it is a VERY low budget movie and dosent really have a plot or great acting it does have one thing, It has some great fight seens that show how BJJ is/would be used in real situations. I think alot of people would be suprised by some of the fighting stuff in it. If you intrested In seeing that aspect of BJJ i would reccomend it.
  6. I remember hearing something about it..dont remember the name of it, i dont think I had ever heard of it before.

  9. Do you angle off to the same side as the top leg that is going across the kneck? For example if my Right leg was across the top, hooked under my left knee, I would angle out to the right? I sometimes have difficulting closing a triangle on larger people
  10. I hear K-1 Is trying to get a some Top TKD guys in there..anyone intrested?
  11. We do it every single class at my school, but it's Krav Maga not karate.
  12. I would suggest learning how to fight first.
  13. Look's legit, just mkae sure you get the instructors credintials..as far as how long he has trained and under who.
  14. yes there are certain stlyes that cover all aspect's of a fight. but generally speaking they are great for self defense purposes. I may be biased but i think Krav Maga is an excellent example of this. But you cany be a master of all trades, it is important ot be well rounded but i think you have to find your bread and butter.
  15. Muay thai was designed for the military wheni t was created. so was Tae Kwon Do , Jiu jitsu was used by samurai. Most Martial art's were not designed as sports, it just happens some do better than other adapting ot them.
  16. you could also say chess requires more planning and skill but chess dosent advertise as teaching you how to fight. nothing wrong with point sparring or chess as long as you realize what you are doing.
  17. There is a Belt System in Krav Maga, however it is not empasized like in most systems and belts are not worn in Clas-s(why wont it let me write cla-ss??) " Most people wear a T-shirt and some sort of workout pants/shorts, although some wear Krav Maga Shirts/pants if they want to. You also wear shoes during training.
  18. Yes I Agree, training for self defense shoulf be done from a position of disadvantage and is diffrent from fight training. But that's not what he said.
  19. yea make sure you push the arm that is in the trinagle across your body.
  20. I havent heard anything on this either.
  21. There is a video somewhere of a kid with absolutly no training Beating a TKD black belt by kicking him in the balls...great stuff...especially since the TKD guy was trying to show off. sorry...that was a bit off topic but i just remebered it.
  22. Im not trying to argue i was pointing out that you were wrong about that particular statment. it's not opinion it's fact...unless of course you disagree with the dictionary.
