Does this make them responsible and those who cater to it? -
I know a few females whom tried to do MMA-BJJ, ground arts. They didn't fair well being that it required some strength. These females had some great striking ability and surprise methods.

How Old Are The Martial Artists Here ?
RichardZ replied to Tiger1962's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
SnapD, it is a lifestyle, but it has to be ubderstood as one which has many trials, tribulations, and tales -
I think the muscle and skill equatons lacks another factor - surprise

As much as any other time. While technique over comes strength, every pound of muscle you give up requires a greater gap of skill than you otherwise need. Some techniques require a close matching physically to have good chances of working. Others work better against people who hold a physical edge. They work even better when that gap isn't there though. A newly minted black belt asked me after training one night how important strength was in a fight. I told him that for ever pound of muscle he gave up in a fight, he had to have an exponential amount of skill to over come that. If you make it like a mathmatical equation, for ever 1M(muscle) you give up you need 2S(skill) to over come that. So, M=muscle, S=Skill, F=Fighting ability, then M(2)+S=F. Not precise, but it carries the point. To use an MMA example, Brock Lesnar has 4 MMA fights. He's about 290+/- pounds at fight time. Randy Coulture is 220lbs and has about 26 fights professionally. Both are highly decorated as amature wrestlers. Randy has far more skill in submissions, submission defense, striking and clinch work. A massive reach and power advantage carried Brock to victory over Randy despite the skill difference. Same with Frank Mir. He had every advantage in skill he could have had other than wrestling. Mir lost in large part due to the size/strength difference. Without that advantage, Mir's superior grappling/submission base should have won the fight, if not made it much more competitive. To me that points to the importance of training attributes along with your techniques. Ah! According to this, it seems muscle is needed 2x more than skill per ratio. therefor muscle is twice as important. So therefore, if you have 2x skill and 1x muscle, hmmmn What if you had 3x muscle going against someone with 1x skill?

JZ you may have a valid point. A realtionship shouldnt get to physical abuse from either side. training or not, in any social order, control of physical confrontation especially in a relationship is paramount. However, my girlfriend, then turne wife, has hit me a time or two. Nothing serious as I "let" her. No harm to me, so I blew it off. Making up was the great part.

Indeed. The guy with the blade would have to still have his drawn first. It is all situational. it is the same as guy on the outside of his car and gun or knofe inside. It is all a matter how the weapon is reachable.

I have to agree with JZ. And if you are defending from within the home, I guess there was no running away. In short, everything has to be delt with on the basis of common sense and less over-reaction. If we can deal with somene attacking use, per the situation and circumstance not to maim them, we cannot apply the same common sense and reasoning to not shoot them dead. The line has to be drawn what is reasonable and excessive.

5 year old black belt in India?!?!

Are we to understand that what it means to be-have a black belt rank should be far beyond that of wearing one? Should it have a certain standard of age via responsibility? Shall we let people under the age of 13 drive, open bank accounts, smoke, consume alcohol, etc., as well? -
But do you understand why?

I have my studfent return to the main floor from changing "bacK; in the dressing rooms with their Gis. Then I have them fold it and using the belt as a strap, package everything in a neat bundle. many pareants tell me how this had made kids fold their other clothes when they hadnt before. For washing, the common wash of "whites" or light colors apply. Not too many GIs can undergo too much detergents, as I had "lost" many in repated detergent washes. The quality of the GI makes a world of difference.

Taekkyon controversy?
RichardZ replied to JusticeZero's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I have to agree with bushido_man. Usually these so-called obscure martial arts surface as a means to show credibility via history or ancestrial link. Simply and incorrectly, it is being laid to claim, if it is old, it has proven to be of worth. (This applies to anything in antiques also) -
David didnt beat Goliath with muscle to muscle, he had a long distance weapon. What id Goliath had a bow and arrow, thus having better distance than david? It was like a BB gun and a musket. No comparison upon man verese man. the btter weapon is how David won along with Goliath's complacency.

It, like anything, is also set by a little luck. It comes down to this...MANY want to be in the UFC, Rockbands, Movie Stars, President of the US, so forth. Hard work is a understatement.

It's a hybrid of a traditional form of Jujutsu (Aki-Jujutsu) that has elements of Kung Fu added in. It has a great balance between striking and grappling, weapons training, ki training and is probably the most "street effective" style I've seen. A solid Green belt can hold his own against most black belts. But, yeah, it's almost completely unknown. It (AikiJujuttsu) is not a "hybrid" form of jutsu. And it is not proven to have "kung fu" added in. Aikido, Hapkido, and Kito Ryu (from where Judo came), all came from Aikijujutsu.
