  1. I dont quite understand....please explain...thanks I don't quite understand your question..why don't I charge, or why did I quit charging? I quit charging because I wasn't teaching for the income. Sure, the extra money was always nice, but I felt I had knowledge that I wanted to pass on to others that were so inclined and felt there was no need to charge them for this knowledge. I had even stopped charging for classes at one time, but that was a disaster! (another long story, but I won't get into it here). Exactly why I dont charge. I cant seem to charge for knowledge obtained. I cant seem to understand a meaning of testing upon information that should be seen as progress in the making. However, if there is overhead, charging for lessons is a must. But, what is not a must, is to "nickel and dime" for anything.
  2. Blind loyalty is what I have been talking about. Actually, one of my teachers always said, "Dont take my word for it, go out and see for yourself"
  3. I dont consider body builders as having strength. They do not work on proper strength training as much as bulk-size-look.
  4. Karate and Quan Fa are the same? Are they both Gung Fu?
  5. College first, martial arts second. No need to worry about putting in more time to martial arts. Get your college education and martial arts will come along.

  8. Martial arts sarcastic poetry?

  10. So the function is for easy, first hand observation?
  11. Am I to think you are outting new stripes on a old belt?
  12. I always like "Dragon Brands", though I dont know if these are still made or still maintain quality.
  13. OK?!? I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but, HUH???? The sharpest knife is not considered the do-all knife. I am not speaking in metaphorical terms. However, could it not be that complacency is a total negative thing for martial arts/artists?
  14. Great. I hope it all works out for you and the student.
  15. Ok. Then a statement about clueless firearm instructors is somewhat erroneous due to the fact they have to be certified or accountable. I thought you stated that you stated: While many in here started with MA before firearms, I am just the opposite. I have carried a gun professionally for a good part of the last 10 years (Army and city Police.) The latter suggest that you were a City Police officer.
  16. I have heard about the raw egss in whiskey. I wonder what would be next, oranges in vodka.
  17. There was flash. A guy by the name of Jeremy Blahemy, or something like, that put on national breaking demonstrations in a stars and stripes, red white and blue uniform. There were satin Chinese uniforms Then there were those walking around with many patches oer insignia.
  18. Well, it is isnt one to ponder why vernerable masters and grandmasters do not concern themselves with fancy uniforms, patterns, stripes? If i had seen this person helping out, I would have inquired from others there who he was. Generally at such events, I make it my concern and curiousity, to know or meet anyone who I do not know.
  19. I know what it means, but is complacency as much as a oxymoron to martial arts/artists in such a display of wording?
  20. This is bascially what I stated in my previous post. However, I would tend to think people nowadyas have the determination to research or check upon siad school and/or instructor. The hard thing to do, is actually determine qaulity with so many variables and no set standards .
  21. I once feinted a fainting to lure a opponet to drop their guard. Does this count as feinting?
  22. Anyone have the toy drum or a pier with a swinging fish hook?
  23. Well if it isnt about winning, and one is putting the body through abuse, then could this be considered as self destructive? To what purpose do people whom have achieved anything, continue into a area? What more to they have to prove?
  24. Ok, I am going to respond, and I hope this doesnt come off condescending; 1.) Rather or not payment was made, no one has a corner patent or market to keep another from teaching. If I paid someone to teach me how to fix brakes on a car, then it is my choice if I decide to charge someone or not to fix their brakes or show them how. In short, any knowledge I obtained, could be so fit on how I should use it, in whatever form. After all, I paid for it, having certain privelege on what I shall do or not do with it. 2.) Contracts such as these in martial arts are not totally binding. I once worked for a engineering firm who had one like this. About not being able to work in the same field, within a certain radius. I had one simular with a martial art school. On actuality, from legal counsel, the only way any of these could proceed to a legal course would be, if I GOT PAID from them in the same instance as I went out. Once my ties were severed, so was any binding. 3.) I would think, anyone taking on the responsiblity of a student(s), would have considered themselves qualfied. 4.) No lawsuit could be honored from accidental inury once it has been established that there is a possibility from injury in said participation. The law is about a type of prominence. Contract law has a ventire called offer and acceptance. Sure, anyone can file suit against another for anything. I can file a suit at someone just for sneezing on me. The course of legal action is determined to the evidence and legal issue as per the situation, not upon what one would think should be a course of action. If there is verbal agreement, which is in best interest to be witnessed, terms are therefore understood and legal issues would weaken. 5.) Indeed, you could get upset with a student who went off on his own to teach. But do they actually need to obtain permission to do so? Especially if they had paid you for your services many years prior?
