Martial Arts and Complacency
RichardZ replied to RichardZ's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
LOL, so you are saying that you are compacent with the word and its associations? -
Dorky? No. If such a discussion is about how little different one is AFTER removing a belt, it stands to reason, the belt is not needed, nor did it seem like it had changed someone. Therefore, I think, if someone is to discuss or state that removing their belt has not changed them, then the belt seems to not be a good course of any sort of accomplishment to be examined. Thus, it stands to reason, those who are not martial artists without rank, share the same dispositions as those who remove theirs. So, therefore, the rank-belt is nullified. If a discussion is on how one may preceive what their belt is, or DOES for them, this is a paramount issue.

Martial arts research library
RichardZ replied to hobbitbob's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Hey Patrick, what would be the link to that books page? -
Indeed. I had almost the same discussion with a actual-ordain Buddhist monk, a few months back.

Grand post BM96, I was wondering when someone would point out armed forces.
-
OK. Thanks for the post, go ahead and do a little research. Youd be surprised what you'll find. (This subject came up when actually eating Chinese food for lunch)
-
Again, if we establish that we are no different, then why put one on in the first place? If we are to discuss, that the display of rank doesnt change us, then why bother putting on the display?
-
Why? Do they freak seeing your strange underwear? Seriously, I cannot fully understand the pupose of this thread. For be it as it may, if one is all these things when they take off their belt, why bother to put one on in the first place?

Apart from the bo staff , I would think the hardest, difficult weapon is oneself.

No peaking, that is, looking it up before others post what they think or know; The fortune cookie.....actual Chinese tradition?
-
Grand post tallgeese. It is that often I come across martial artists who consider themselves as warriors in the actual sense.

With A Little Help From My Two Little Friends!
RichardZ replied to sensei8's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
sensei8, I am not trying to sound negative towards you, but the chance will almost never present itself in a real confrontation. Unless you are going against a inexpereinced person. -
This is very interesting. Because as those maybe lobbying against guns, and strict laws thereof, in other places, the same is done upon other weapons. I think lawmakers just cant get it, it isnt the weapon that commits the crime. Criminals are going to commit a crime with whatever is available. AND, they would be the ones who have illegal weapons in the first place. This is why they are called 'criminals". They are not concerned with laws.

Aww, yes!! Raw cookie dough! Its the best. Now, if I combine that with my post-workout chocolate milk, I'll be sitting in high cotton! Awesome... Ok, maybe no one should take nutritional advise from me... I guess this may have one use the bathroom alot.

New to Karate, need help structuring my training
RichardZ replied to Kid_Karatedo's topic in Health and Fitness
Good reference. Allthough I like to point out that working out alone is much harder for beginners, per motivational accounts. True. But, if a new student is lazy already, it won't matter if they're by themself or not. Likewise, if the new student isn't lazy already, then that student will train hard no matter what. Nice point. But it maybe my imagination, but a lot of the younger generation seem to be less motivated or less willing to work for something. Please, this is not meant to say all, or categorically bash younger people. -
Yes, there was flash. But it was more the exception than the rule. Satin & the stars & stripes uniforms seemed to be more for tournaments. Today, it seems like it's the 1st uniform lil Johnny gets as a white belt when his folks sign him up in the "master's club." (Sorry. Old guy bitterness, creeping in I do miss the old days. But it's probably cuz my body misses my 17 year old I agree. Although such was still in every effort to trend with the current cultural style. Even the late Bruce Lee wore hippy-like clothing.

School deadlock
RichardZ replied to therealashland's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Grand advise. Although I would like to add, that sometomes it can be difficult to find one all around art. This is not a bad yhing, as certain arts excel in something particular than another. -
Combinations involving backfists and knifehands

I can see competitions, whereas limits the use of hands, and/or promotes the use of kicks, foremost, could bash and disquaified one with paramount hand tactics. -

sensei 8, thank you for your post. I have read somewhere that there weren't any "real" code of Bushido. Mainly it was carried from family values and traditions.
