  1. This kind of a funny story. My family and I have been doing tournaments for over 3 years now and yesterday my husband showed me a old magazine (Black Belt) of his and low and behold had C.S. Kim on the front of it. Well the tournaments that I go to he is always there and I always wounder where I have seen him from before. Well there I go on cover of Black Belt Mag. He is a very friendly and humble man. Always how are you today are you doing well and congratulates you when you are done competing. He is a very awesome person. I just thought would share this and how small this world is.
  2. Congrats Erin! I hope you had a lot of fun.
  3. We practice knees and elbows in are dojo. We practice restraint when practicing knees with a partner. Working on blocking them and delivering them correctly, which some people get and some don't. I like blocking with them but I am a little delayed, to use to point sparing a guess you are not aloud to block with knees.
  4. we do a spiderman crawl in class he is a variation of one that we do http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMBCbJl7LDs we stay lower to the ground then they do but is very similar. As for the spiderman push ups and lunges I will have to try them. Hindu push ups we do in class every once in the while I feel it works my shoulders and abs and lower back.
  5. Just enjoy yourself and do not over do it. If you do you could make yourself vulnerable to get and injury.
  6. Never heard of them. I will have to check them out.
  7. Never heard of it but it looks interesting.
  8. Welcome to the forums Jenny.
  9. I have notice the pounding either and I have been practicing over 3 years now.
  10. This is heard times and I am sure everyone is feeling the stress but he needs to keep it out side of the dojo or he will drive business away and that is not what he needs. so as what was stated above, tell him about it but approach it delicately or he will lash out at you.
  11. Welcome to the forums. If you think 23 is to old to start training I was 31 . It is never to late it just hurts more .
  12. Welcome Ashley to the forums, glad to have you.
  13. I favor my left out. I have been working south paw but I am so much slower on that side with foot work. I do like to throw side kicks from south paw.
  14. Sorry to here that Truestar. I agree with what was said above if it does not go away I would get it look at.
  15. I also own a pair I use them for cross training (between grappling and sparring we do drills where we switch back in forth between the 2). The foam sparring gear gets in the way and gets expensive to replace. So I wear them in place of the sparring gear.
  16. Thanks for sharing Wa-No-Michi. Cool video.

  20. This my bo so I really do not want to sand it if I do not have to http://www.karatedepot.com/wp-bo-31.html you can see the would grain through the finish it is really nice.
  21. That is cool, my dad would think he died and went to heaven seeing that store.
  22. Very good points given. One of the problems I have point sparring is I like to go to the body with punches well if your opponent is going for the head that person is going to get the point even if you scored first because most of the judges all see the head first. I found this out the heard way. And a friend of mine who does a lot of tournaments told me this so this is a very good piece of advise and if your entering as a novice hit the gear not the face that is illegal in the tournaments I do so find out the rules. And enjoy yourself that is so important.
  23. Glad to here Kez.
