help with Shy student
white owl replied to hapkido princess's topic in Instructors and School Owners
Is his parents staying for class? If they are maybe ask them if they could leave for one class to see how he does. I know we had a boy who hung on his parent and one day the parent had to leave and do something during one of the lessons and the boy did great without his parent being there. -
Yep! I know a few people it has happen to and I know when I had a bad cough my sides got really sore and it did not help I already had a bruised rib. But I am sorry to here that but at least you know now what is going on. Just take it easy and get better, ok.

I hope you find out what is causing the rib pain. But I am glad that the x-ray showed that the lungs are clear.

I am glad you were able to save it.

We bow before entering and living the dojo. Everything is yes sensei or no sensei. If people are talking, yawning or just not listening punishment is burp-ees, push ups, or wall sits. Usually do not have a problem in the adult class but sometimes in the children's class.

I do not know the right way to patch a gi either but since it is that small I would think it would not need a patch in my opinion. I would think just sew the ends together and make the stitches as small as you can so it will not be noticeable. And welcome to the forums .

Yes!! this is very important! It will also help you not to go through the motions. I like to break up my kata's in to parts exespecialy if I'm weak with a part of a kata and I will work it. That seems to help me into making it stronger.

How Old Are The Martial Artists Here ?
white owl replied to Tiger1962's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I suffer from acid reflux and my doctor has me on prilosec. When I need a inflammatory he has me take and extra dose of prilosec to help control the acid. But I agree that Alieve is great and it is in it own category. -
Thank you DWx, I appreciate it. I like the Century one but it does not look like it covers the rips.

At least you did not cry over spilled milk . -
I have one just for the chest that is all right. It goes in under my gi. But I was looking for something that will protect my ribs but I do not want to have to wear it on the outside because the guys in my dojo hit pretty hard and I can take it for while. I think if they see it they will want to hit even harder. Especially the one with the bulls eye.

I have had bruised ribs, a pulled tendon foot,a sprain ankle, a black eye, and inner muscle tear in my side which I would not think possible which I just got over, and now I suffer with a pull tendon in my big toe and that is just a few. Yes I have came to the conclusion that getting older is for the birds. -

I'm 34, I will be in the senior division in late summer. And have been training over 3 years I felt the same way with the ibuprofen thang until I found my new chiropractor and boy is he great now I do not have to take as much Ibuprofen. My whole family goes to him even my husband side. And yes I try to train smart but sometimes I get a little stupid. -

Tournament Politics ?
white owl replied to Tiger1962's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I actually just competed in a tourny this fall and tied another competitor they do drop the high and low scores and if you tied you may do the same form or choose another one and then after we were done we had to turn around and the judges choose who one. I never saw this in the tournaments that I have compete in and when it happen to me I did my kata by myself.
