  1. I am not an expert...so I wanna practice technique and no a brute force submision sparring. I am more built than many of my mates but I do not wanna rely on my strenght because the strenght is something I have , and a good technique is something I dont. If I wanna use massive strenght , I go to lift weights. The problem is , that I have some pals who got desperated when I grab them , and they start pushing, twisting themselves and moving like mad monkeys.... And I am not good with a fast technique enought to stop them. I can stop them in the same way they act , but I am triying to improve my technique... I do not wanna be another monkey and turn the sparring in sort of ape vs monkey fight....
  2. do u mean , good abs when u say sixpack ( 6 visible squares?) . or do u mean a beer belly born with 6 pack can ?
  3. If I want , I can stay and avoid the competition. But...the next one.. they will be pushing again.... They should note that..and stop trying... Anyway...I am not that good at grapling , I just started a couple of months ago and it is far away from being a natural skill to me. I was a swimer when younger...and use to compete in serius tournaments...I am kinda sick of the feeling and tension... The worst thing is that the tourney is 300 miles away from my city.
  4. Hi....As I told you.. I have been training in MMA. Our school is member of the Budokan Luta livre organization , a luta livre ( non gi grappling ) worldwide organization. We do train adapted thai boxing techniques for MMA, but the school does not compete in M. thai. We compete in grappling and MMA. The head instructor want me to fight in a grappling tourney. He is kinda pushy about that. I am studing law and antrophology..I also work and lift weights...Also I have to sleep and eat... My MMA training is just a hobby. I like it , but I dont have any dish about being a grappling champion or even compete. The problem is that the institution is oriented toward competition (like most of MMA schools)., and all the guys who are ´´ready ´´. are asked to compete.... Obviusly that they can not force a guy to do that , but the instructor remains about the tourney every training day ....
  5. I wouldnt put my face on TV....and talk cocky , with the sword.... telling how did I attacked the guy.... Some members of the same gang could see the video and take revenge on that kid.......And more probably if their buddy is going to jail.
  6. Yes , that is true sometimes.. If a bad guy loses...he can not bear that , and will come again..with some sort of help.... Violence leads to more violence
  7. yes , know how to get up is the more important grappling aspect , I agree.. About chockes and locks....They can take time to get, for example... when I sparr with really advanced mates I may get chocked in 30 seconds .... Or even you may look at gracies NHB in the first UFC...he take his time to chocke or lock a guy , and he is an elite grapling fighter. I think that is posible to ´´ win ´´ a street fight using a submision , but you need your time .
  8. Well , boxing stills moving more money , I think ( there are prices over a couple of millions , and even Fedor earn that money -he ´´barely´´ get quarter or half million-). And the oldest people , will be holding their passion for boxing..... I do love boxing too.
  9. I made a pair when I was 13. Used a wood mop stick.....cutted 2 pieces according my forearm size. Then....went to a hardware store and bought a good solid chain and 2 ´q´ shape special screws. After assembling it, I did put some black tape on the wood to get a confortable hold and to get a good look . By the way.... I have seen a lot of chuks in china town ! But I have been there 2 years ago....
  10. "pulled a Rick Flair ´´ , are you talkint about some signatures moves of that guy ? And..About dirty moves....a mma mate who is new....grabed one finger of my hand and twisted it...he didnt knew the rule of NO SMALL JOINT MANIPULATION I really wanted to crack his head in that moment
  11. I think that many times , ´´ losing ´´ a street fight is worst than the wounds you get. I am talking about ego , self estime , etc.... I remember to be punched by 5 guys, and one of them hitting me when it was unexpected. I dont care to have a black eye , or some scars, even a broken bone ( I do care about a knife in my neck) I talk about fights where weapons are not involved, many of regular size average guys will attack to your face , specially to the eyes ....Strikes to the chin or nose are not sooo common. Is not very common to get killed or badly injured in regular altercation with unarmed people. I hate to geat beaten by a guy who I know that could beat in fair conditions. A friend of mine... a MMA fighter, who is great in thai box and a world class ( former champ) of grappling was attacked with a stone when he was fighting a guy ( the dude´s friend threw the stone against his nose). He was KOED and went to the hospital that nite. He told me the same I told you , he was angry for the dirty thing they did , not for the wound.
  12. Cool , it looks like gracies instructional vids --- Nice blue gi
  13. As far I know honey do have a lot of carbos, vitamins and a bit of proteins.... But you cannot live with milk alone for a long time. What I have readen is that they eated honey , but added milk and almond , peanuts etc when traveling , cuz those things were energetic and easy to transport.... And they carried honey for other reasons too....For example..it is a good antibiotic and heals the wounds.
  14. I pay 50 bucks per month . And it includes weight training and cardio machines.
  15. No... Judo has a lot of locks....not the same quantity of bjj , but judokas may choke and lock. In fact , the BJJ´´KIMURA ´´ lock was named after Kimura the judoka who defeated heio gracie.
  16. The only way to be prepared...is to kill people...And that is not a nice thing to do.... Just the people who killed before (ie : war veterans) are prepared in some way to deal with that.
  17. Yes.... He is a beast , but generally hits fat loosers or big guys with no skill ( look kimbo vs adrian..adrian is huge and fit..but punches like my big momma).
  18. I like sanshou ....but.... if we are allowing punches , kicks and takedowns/throws....Why not continue the fight on the ground when someone falls? I think this is between kick boxing and mma...
  19. Yeah , tito rocks...he is good taking down people for the ground n pound.... The problem of goint to the clinch is that you need more movements and time to get there....in mma you may eat some blows.... I sacrifice some hits to achieve the clinch sometimes...
  20. ´´Y are you fighting in a tux??´´ I preffer to not...but I have to wear a tux to work sometimes....And If I am attacked when wearing a tux...then I got to fight in a tux
  21. ´´ Leave your ego at the door ´´ I forgot that my first grappling class , but when being a 200 lbs guy , I was chocked by a 140 skinny advanced guy....I always remember that day
  22. ´´then Japan(samurai and ninja) devoted their lives to it, not just some training´´ What about Templars .They lived inside the moor´s world and many of ´em battled every day for their lives against much more than bigger troops
  23. Oh ,, you have 2 kind of classes.... How do you practice combinations or..avoiding puches followed by takedowns , etc ?
  24. You may use some compressor..Lose a lil bit of quality and make it much more lighter. or you may split it in 3 parts ?
  25. `` I shifted my internal organs to avoid the knife `` what can be worst ...the are some crappy instructor like this one
