Clothes...........
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Rainbow_Warrior's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I agree in that we can choose our clothes...but when we got to work , or go to certain places we may not. Yes.....About the stuff falling out of pockets you are right...doesnt really matters if ur life is in danger..It was just one thing more to say... -
Hey..... I wonder how you do you use your training time..... At my gym , we do something like 70 percent grappling , and 30 strinking average .We put A LOT more attention in grappling always , because is the school attitude in mma. Our head instructor teachs much more grappling ( yeah , more ) to the new guys with no previus background on striking. New guys with w/o striking background usually dont learn to strike until they do know the basic moves of ground fighting and takedowns. How do ya split the training ?

how to defend against kimbo
Rainbow_Warrior replied to masterintraining's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Hey bushidoman, kimbo was a convict . I have readen he gained skills in prison fights . So , you may meet some guy like him at work -
Hey , what is your preffered take down ? Generally I choose to attemp a take down from the clinch , aimin´at the waist. Or traping legs from the clinch too (with my legs ). I find the shoot doble leg hard to achieve against a ´´good´´ grapler, or even single leg.... I have done those kind of takedowns to more unexperienced guys... Also I have a good sprawl...When I am taken down...usually its from clinch too. The fact of being heavy , with a non very flexible waist or low back may influence. Ie : I never was a good avoiding punches with my waist , its kinda rigid ( even when I was skinny and used to do just boxing)

Clothes...........
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Rainbow_Warrior's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Yes..take a practice with street clothes is a good idea....The problem is that is not posible to do in my mma gym now . And most of my mates just dont care ´bout self defense ( even those who are budokan chapmps) About the backback...is true that it may give me some protection...but I feel like a damn turtle ! I could keep the sraps loose , like lordariel said...not bad idea -
I once spekead to a nutritionist , she was a women. I wanted a Diet to get more muscle mass. She told me that I was ok , and did not need that...but she made me a diet....nothing weird..... You should go to a specialized SPORT nutricionist...because many of the average ones work with women , or old people who just wanna loose fat...

Dealing with a ?bully?
Rainbow_Warrior replied to ShotokanKid's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
How old are you ? -
Hi.... Maybe what I say seems stupid , but. 1) I use jeans many times , and use traditional ones ( I aint liket wide, or rapper jeans). THey are kinda tight... I cant kick very well with ´em. In fact I broke several pants playing with some friends after a bbq ( yeah , I am an Idiot). 2)When I work , sometimes I got to dress formal ( you know , tuxedo stuff) . THose formal pants are confortable for kicking , but their pockets arent really deep or tight...and I am afraid of losing my things when fighting (they can fall from my pocket) 3) I carry a backbag many times....It really decreases my skill to move , or rotate fast , and even to punch. So , is possible to be battle ready in such conditions ?

What to do after a conflict
Rainbow_Warrior replied to DWx's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
It depends.....But If we dont have witness , and we are talkin´bout a dark nite : If some street punk attack me , and he fall and hit his head and then die.... I would probably get the hell out of there....I dont wanna risk my freedom. If for example , I broke his nose/arm , etc...I would run too.... Those lowlife people tends to go to trial to get ur money for civil damage ! In the actual world... criminal law tends to protect more the criminal than the good guy.. So , if no witness , no proofs....RUN ! -
I agree with all ninjer said... And , going to a concrete floor is not such a big problem if you know how to land ! ( even if you are the one taken down)

He pushed me several times.... Before mocking about my pirate costume (it was a costume party) .It started when the dumb guy asked me to give him some beer , and complained cuz it was warm , then talking crap about my costume ( cuz I had some black make up in my face )...and then talkin bad of me with several women , to look good himself.....

This is and old post , but I see it now cuz its on the first page. Some man said here that , samurais where trained to dont be afraid of the death...that may be true....but for a knight , dont you think that the will to survive is an advantadge ? I agree , that many people see the eastern arts as superior to western..and that isnt true. And by the way..if a knight have a proper techinique and an important weight and size (ussually a fact , due the ethnic background), dont you think that a good technique + power could beat some good technique with a weaker and small body (generally) ? Knights dont train often ??? That is not true....and in some cases ( ie: Crusaders) their training was the constant ,dayly WAR. I put my money on the knight , if we are talking about a ´´standard´´ -if it is possible- knight and a ´´standard ´´ samurai. I mean , average...not a champ. But I M SURE , that some samurais could win to some knights.... BTW : I like these kinds of questions....I used to wonder in battles featuring King Kong and godzila or Who would win , a Macedonian spear man or a medieval pikeman ?

Luta livre , BJJ
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Rainbow_Warrior's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
This is a good video of luta livre training Many people says that luta livre is BJJ without gi. It is very similar....and people from both styles hate each other ( not me . I dont hate people, and less M. Artists). In grapling tourneys , brazilian people had some riots because that. Some american writters call luta livre ´´BJJ evil twin ´´, cuz it is not so famous in the states. This sport also have some roots in Judo , but uses wrestling take downs too.The ground work is near the same of BJJ, but there are not so many trows. I have doing it for a couple of months...we train luta livre + thai.....and I love it. -
Judo and BJJ
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Rainbow_Warrior's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
There is a video of a young BJ Penn, fighting in a black belt judo tourney, when he was a BJJ amateur.... Is cool to see the differences there. -
In some judo forum , some guys mock ´bout BJJ... They say that it came from judo...and If A contains B , B never could beat A. The newaza ( ground work) is similar to bjj ground work , I know what they mean. But judokas are less specialized on that.... Those judokas talk about the Kimura vs gracie fight....( were the grand master gracie lost) . But they dont mention tons of fights where bjj won... I think that many people does not know about the Judo ground techniques.. And I dont know why M Artists hate each other always
