  1. If find the lotus position kinda not confortable. I sometimes meditate in my bed at night , with my legs and arms fully extended , and my palms toward the sky.
  2. All you people avoid drinking ? Or drink moderate ? or like to drink well? Do yo think that may affect your physical /mental condition in MA ? I personally love beer ,and enjoy it. I love to get a cold one when I come back at night after a long day....
  3. I was sorry for him...I tried to help him lot of times. But he said that I want to separate him of the ´´ warrior´s path´´.After a long time, getting he mad in discussion...he no longer wanted to talk with me ( either other college , and all life friends) I borrowed him money when we were at casino , and gave me after a year, then said me that ´´ we are no longer friends´´, and that he was angry because I asked for my money ( that he gave me a 1 after ) He gave me my money , and Told me that he has a mission to do , in the way of the mind work to be a warrior of the sun. Something like that....Is hard to help someone who does not want to be helped.
  4. Yes , Samurai were the european medieval knight equivalent in japan. And many knight could atack a peasant just for looking his horse.I know what you mean. But , the samurais had codes of life....and in theory they had to adjust to several rules of the bushido that includes honor and helping other people ( close to ´´ help the opressed´´ of the knights). I understand what you said abot philosphy... but most MA had one. I think that people associates MA with ASIA....so generally speaking the MA are eastern things for the average person. Many person forgets their ancestors heritage .
  5. Many people say that wrestling is not MA. It may be right today But the thing we know as western ´´wrestling´´ is derivated from the greek phalanx and roman legion hand to hand war combat training , so , it was really heavy hard stuff. In some military forces , today wrestling still in the basic training , countrys like Russia , or ( as far I know) some US forces... But where is the limit between Martial art , defense technique, self defense and contact sport ? Some people say that MA have own philosophy and spiritual teaching.....It ´s a very thin line
  6. The problem is not with MA. People does not respect each other , each other religion , each other life. And the loser people is the worst. Most people who mock at MA normally are people with crappy lifes , crapy family, lazy , agressive , blank. The only way to get respect of those pseudo- human litter is actually , is inside a ring. Walking away is generally fine... but some people is really annoying and perseverant in their jerkness I remember when training boxing (not a MA , but useful as example ). And Idiot watched every day and mocked on the boxer. One day he decided to get in the practice. He wanted to combat. I asked my trainer to fight with him. I broke his nose , and his blood stained the ring´s floor. After that day , he started to talk me with great respect and friendly
  7. There is any post specially about multiple atackers ?
  8. Martial arts went in part , to be a piece in the economical market of today..but I think TKD is a special case ( I AM NOT SAYING THAT ALL TKD IS MC DOJO) Here , in my country we have a lot of TKD dojos ( I mean, A LOT ,at least halft thousand at least in my city -3 million people city) , most of them are ITF and WTF. Those styles , here ( I just can speak about what I know) , are belt factories. I saw 10 years old chubby kids 2 dan black belts , coming with their mom´s to the dojo. And , I saw that MANY times. Even , my brother when he was 7 years old , had a semi green belt after training for 6 months ( each belt change was $100).And a friend of mine told me that some people was able to skip belts doing a certain test. I am sure that the traditional TKD is a good and serius thing ,as every pure art is.In fact I have a TKD friend who is really good. But the money can ruin anything. And at least here, TKD is a money machine. I have not seen that problem with Karate , sipalki (no threads about it in this forum), kung fu, etc.
  9. I know what you mean , It have a relation with how are you standed , and the tension of your body , aften of the neck...It can be modified with technique...unless you have some illness or something.
  10. Well . I am not alone in those problems I am concentrated on Kung fu at this moment , but I really want to still doing some kickboxing to preserve my physical cardio and reflex.I agre I liked what elbows_and_knees said.... but you need a very open minded instructor like he seems to be . And my instructor is VERY traditionalist ( he is disciple from a chinese master) , so...he ´´respect ´´ other arts...but I think in some part of his mind , think that KUNG FU is the key of the universe. But in other way..this guy is great in what he does , and is a nice guy that I know from my 7 years old . So...is very friendly and teaches very well , that ´s why I want to still at this schoo. I agree with the traditional guy about the richness of kung fu. I returned to kung fu , looking for the peace and the wisdom of the movements , but I am so far from being a Kung fu master. And the traditional MA has a long way to the top ( or at least good level) ,and the top moves far every day.I like that, but the kickboxing gives me skills for today , and keep me tuned for combat . I I had a 7 years backgroung on kung fu in my late chilhood early teenage , but I spent time on boxing and kickboxing...and ´´forgot ´´ many techniques , glad of the ´´effective ´´ contact sport. But today I realize that both things are different...and no Better , or worse. I am not a novice at kung fu or kickboxing , but I am not great either in none of ´em, but I understand the ``basics´´of both arts. So...I can easily turn to the kung fu guard , but it is NOT natural to me today , that is my problem. The solution of bushido man of is good, focalize in the kung fu guard during it´s training...and use the confortable guard at combat...Is what I do most part of the time...but sometimes the boxing guard scapes from my mind during the training , because I am forcing it.
  11. I have been reading all that website...Is very nice...But there are only grous in USA , Europe and Asia... No grops in Argentina, or even in South America.... I will keeping surfing the web...I ´ve asked a lot of people here...but they just kwow where to practice bushido, no medieval MA
  12. Is I wrote...I back to kung fu....but I am also with kick boxin some days to get more contact , and do some hard contact with a couple of friends. I ´ve some problems at kung fu training , because my shifu corrects me my guard position very often..... I ´ve been doing boxing and kick boxing for a considerable time....and the guard does nothing to see with kung fu. Both are good....but I am used to close ( or semi close) my hands , and use a fist guard (maybe cuz the globes??). It is more confortable for me , but it is not correct at some parts of the training.....I also use that guard as natural in a danger situation. Another difference on the guard position is that the guard shifu suggest me is 40 % on the left leg ( front , I am right handed) and 60 % on the right with my left hand semi extended and the right hand against my chet, and the average boxing guard I´used is a little agressive and lean toward the opponent ( of course you may move your torso to avoid the hits). So....at kung fu training I try to adapt to that guard , but I do not feel confortable....All the other things work great..... Ideas ?
  13. I ´ve practiced wrestling...and its ok....But the problem is the wrestler does not hit , so...you just learn how to reduce and dominate the enemy , but you will not learn defending from punches and kicks in the floor.
  14. I agree , that this thread is kinda close-minded. For me is the same that saying : What is better , kick boxing or kung fu ? There are no better ways of fightin´, there are better fighters and sad ones.
  15. Thanks fot the link. Yes , we do have regulations about MA. In fact...If a black belt ( of any MA hits a gut...may be in troble..And must to demonstrate that he was atacked first..... And we also have regulations about cults and religion..but because the ´´ freedom of religion´´ any one may pick any cult.....A cult can be closed just if the people is really physical wounded...but it´s hard to show that they are asking tons of money.......
  16. Tnx ! I ´ll check it
  17. I made a post in the chinese MA section... A friend of mine is in a Pseudo pa kua cult...he is all the day inside the damn building , and pays a lot of money...and they wash his brain with fake meditation (very common in cults , kind of mental control)
  18. Well , I was raised Catholic . But I also took some things of buddhism... I know that Jesus got angry when the traders made a shopping of his father´s house , and he used physical strength to send them away....Was a noble cause. I do not find any problem wih MA and any religion ( except with Quakers and those who reject violence even if you are being abused).
  19. well , you may wait a couple of years....then get kinda real sick , and go to trial with them. You win a lot of money to never work again...and retire yourself and live in the woods . naah kiding I Agree with our mates...but...I think that suggesting to leave the work is not a good idea....is easy to say that..but people need to work 4 living.So....you may try not to eat that smoke...and some chi kung may help perhaps....
  20. Hmmmm , You may eat the Universal weight gainer to get some weight... But if you want to increase your hunger..... you can go to a specialized doctor........ or you may try with natural herbs at some naturalist store.
  21. Hey...When I was younger , I did some years of practice in western fencing. I loved it....but my instructor died ( he was a 80 years spaniard)..and left the practice. The other day...I was reading about eskrima (that weapon martial art , that is a filipine-spanish word that means fencing - in pure spanish you say esgrima , pretty similar) , and they concentrate most of time in weapons.... Seems good... But now , I would like to practice two handed sword fencing....I mean with big claymores, as seen in Braveheart movie....I know that I may sound mad ( and idiot)....but do yo know if that kind of activity does exist ?
  22. I do love cold weapons. I got some combat knifes, swords, daggers and sabers. You should acquire those rotative sharpners...about 150 american dollars or so... Or you may try with some accesories of the hole machine as seen on tv I tried it with another knife against the edge too...and may work if you are patient
  23. As one guy said and I agree.. I would not fight a pro -boxer if I could avoid it. And I would run 190 mph if the boxer is like Tyson. They receive tons of hits every day..and they earn their bread fighting. The ´´eye of the tiger ´´ do exist. A real boxer trains every day....about 6 hours including boxing , runing , and lifting weights. A guy who practice martial arts...usually do not train more than 2 or 3 times a week..Even if you do train every day , but doing this for hobby , self , defense , etc...is not the same. If you are a pro martial artist , instructor, MMA , or kick boxer is different...you may fight the boxer using elements he does not handle. I would (try to) take him down with wrestling keys , or with very low kicks ( some one did they say already).
  24. I do body building at gym 4 times a week, swiming some times and do push ups at home in boring sundays
