  1. i cant see bassai dai being done quick. to many strong moves
  2. He's a big guy. But he doesn't look too fat. I mean...he looks more like he's built like Bolo Young. Large chest and arms with a body that matches. I think the thread is talking more about guys who are just fat outright. if you actually watch some of his older films, esp the ones he did with jackie chan, he is actually fat, not stocky. edit: sorry, thought you were talking about samo.
  3. i think if a GM is not for cross training, they should not be called a GM. after all, it is just a name they have given to themselves because they may be the highest rank in their organisation. all they have really done is outlived the others. im waiting for the first court case due to discrimination of someone cos they cant train in 1 art because they do another.
  4. most places would have atleast a book something similar to the old roll book at school. my club now uses a software package to maintain this kind of info
  5. Nature rule daniel-san, not mine
  6. If he is getting older and looking to retire, perhaps you can offer to buy his school. that way you already have a student base. starting a new school is never an easy thing to do.
  7. does the guy seem to be drunk, or does he just smell of alcohol? not that im saying its ok, but just curious because if he is drunk then he should definitely not be able to train because it is dangerous for those he goes against.
  8. maybe instead of putting dan stripes on your belt they should have levels of "fray"
  9. damn slack web people at inosanto.com i want to name drop too.
  10. i guess thats what the instructors are there for. if they go up to people and say yep, your doing fine, we would never strive to be better.
  11. i rekon its because it was the same tournament. now its just me, but im guessing when you 2 tournaments there are going to be a lot of repeat entrants, thus making it look very similar. plus, it would be cheaper to use stock footage.
  12. same. who is he and what does he do?
  13. i have heard that they are, with christopher lambert to play raiden again. its meant to be a lot better than number 2
  14. how can you do sit ups and push ups at the same time? 1000/50 = 20 * 10 mins = 200 mins 300 / 20 = 15 * 10 minutes = 150 minutes = 350 minutes total unless what you were saying that is in 10 minutes you do both 50 sit ups and 20 pushups, in which case yeh it would be about 3 hours. was just a bit hard to see how you was doing all that every day thats all.
  15. i think the grounded foot is the key to both the roundhouse and the side kick. in both kicks your body is going to be facing 90 degrees to where it was when you decided to do the kick (providing your target was in front of you and you werent kicking to the side or something) if you dont turn your foot around you are going to be doing some serious twisting to get your hips around. try this: stand on one leg and rotate your upper body and hips 90 degrees to the side that your grounded foot is on (ie, left foot on ground rotate to the left (anti clockwise), but keep our grounded foot facing forwards. then do the same thing again but rotate your foot the same way as your body. which is easier?
  16. welcome back to the MA heva i got back in to MA after a break of 4 years, tho i went from a BB in TKD to White in Shotokan, but after a while, i wish i never actually stopped.
  17. HAHAHAHA he looks kinda drunk too.
  18. from the reading i have done that looks kinda familiar. some pages ive seen have said something along the lines that TKD is actually a new name for stuff that has been developped in korea with influences from some karate styles.
  19. the guy claims to have been trained in japan and instructed SAS (or similar) and all that crap. people may say its bollocks but he cant exactly come out with something like that in a TV comercial without being able to back up.
  20. true, but the arts you have been trained in you have the muscle memory of a one shot kill art (shotokan), however, if you trained in capoiera for as many years as you have done karate, you will find that your muscle memory will have you doing the evades and attacks from that art. it may not be as flashy or acrobatic as what it is in practise, but it probably one be as solid as karate either.
  21. i got to go to the last inosanto seminar in adelaide (they still dont have the photos on the website grrr). it was actually my first martial arts seminar, and i loved every minute of it. i would love to go to many more but they are just so expensive. im really disappointed that i missed out on that tino ceberano seminar but it was way above budget. once my new houe is in order i hope to get out to more seminars (hrm, i seem to remember saying the same thing on a cars forum)
  22. there is one where i live (sorry, adelaide australia) i havent actually been but a mate of mine checked it out and said it was pretty impressive. i would have taken it up but it was way to strict and expensive.
  23. oooh, looks sweet. if this is anything like the new jet li movie fearless, that was out in january over there, and august here. so im guess we will get it mid 2012
  24. bah, we have only just got the ads for it now, it is coming out this thursday in Australia
