I have finally found this on a local release dvd and will be buying it this week hopefully. any one else remember this series, i thought it was fantastic, even better than the movies. -
the diagrams themselves i find hard to follow if you dont have any basic idea of how the form goes. if you have both the diagrams and the video you should be able to teach youself pretty much any kata/form
-
well, everyone has covered it, but i will just add one thing if you want to compete, look for a WTF school. if you want tradition, look for an ITF school there are exceptions but it is safe to say this is a general rule.

best thing to do when you get in to this situation is to go do something else. the more you think about what your are trying to write, the less you will be able to write. if you go watch tv or something, you will have a brain wave.

cool, very informative -
The best thing I learned was how not to fight. miyagi have hope for you yet danielsan confidence is a big thing, fitness aswell. to me MA is a mind set, not just an activity. if it was just an activity i wouldnt spend so long on these forums.

if its getting old to the people watching, imagine the person that is being yelled at (the opponent) its gonna bug them and put them off their game.
-
also an incentive for your students to bring new students in would work as well

what if two of the members of this family had a disagreement? surely one of them is better than the other. either they will both stand there looking at eachother, or it will be a never ending string of block/counter.

i do like the idea of learning some stick fighting i hope to take up kobudo in the near future.

Humble Beginner Seeks Advice
Zorbasan replied to TryingMyBest's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
thats the biggest thing with MA. if your not enjoying it then you really shouldnt do it. Jiffy mentioned private lessons. these are fantastic to help out people that are struggling, kind of like a tutor for school. 1 on 1 learning is always going to be more effective than 1 on many learning. the other thing to consider is is that school right for you? maybe the pace of the school is too quick, or the instructors methods arent working for you. have a look at some other schools around, or ask your instructor if they have seperate classes for the lower grades. some schools have beginers classes or white and yellow classes. my old school even had "grading" classes for grading specific stuff. -
actually i wouldnt trust myself to name it. id end up calling it "choice karate" or something stupid

sorry to those that dont know the models i am talking about, i keep forgetting this is a world forum, not just australia.

why design new cars? the vs commodore works just as well on current roads as the new VE does. why didnt they just continue that design through? sometimes you just do something cos you can, not because there is a profound reason for it.
