  1. I couldn't imagine wearing my socks while training, it would be so strange. Your answers are already there i guess. Firstly you would slip on the floors, if your training in socks on a carpet you would like rub your feet and make them sore..and like someone else said..they stink!
  2. I failed my driving test 15 years ago, never bothered to take lessons again cos i couldnt afford it what with the kids, and most of my spare cash goes into my MA. Congrats to you on your permit!
  3. Thanks everyone i feel better about it all now. I was reading some of the posts and lots of people are just the same..ie doing it slower to get correct stances and to basically get it right, do it properly. After training on wednesday my sensei said when i performed Jion it was brilliant which gave me a great big smile Maybe doing it a little more slowly isnt so bad after all. Kez
  4. Yes i agree with that but at 2nd kyu surely i should be confident enough by now to get the speed, i get the technique and power part right. I suppose i worry that if i go to fast i will mess the whole kata up.
  5. Thanks for the link brandon and got to have a quick look. I don't have that channel so i wont get to see what it's all about. It seems a bit far fetched, lots of dynamica and ariel kicks..i dunno what i think of it really. It reminds me a bit of the tv programme 'fight school', did anyone see that? kez
  6. Yeah alsey i agree, a lame ending would be totally dreadful and a complete let down for the show.
  7. Ok here's my little problem (well if you can call it that). When the whole class is asked to peform the same kata i tend to be slower than everyone else. I could do it faster but i like to use power and i like to show the technique. I have never recieved complaint by sensei over this but for some reason i am constantly looking at how fast the other students are performing their kata. The faster one's (normally kids at lower grades, and sometimes the higher grade kids) don't tend to show any technique or power. Obviously in some kata like hangetsu or kanku-dai it requires slow then fast throughout and i don't mind that because thats the way it's meant to be performed. Kata's such as sandan, neidan, yondon ect i like to do slowly but not too slow. What do you guys think? How do you perform your kata's, fast or slow? Kez
  8. I think they are great. Also i like the way it's done is slow motion, sometimes the video's are to fast to follow.
  9. Good luck to you in whatever happens. I'm sure what you are doing is the right desicion for you!
  10. I have never really watched it. Myabe i should try to get into it, everyone says its really good.
  11. Alsey if you can get deception do so it's brilliant, i have both deception and deadly alliance, have both the mortal kombat films too and they are great. They should make a film out of tekken. It's great going back to the old classic games, especially the mk's. I remember a review about the mk's on tv once there was a lot of uproar because of the violence, blood and devasting moves. Mums were saying kids were trying to act them out. Yet look at WWF wrestling kids act them moves out all the time!
  12. I couldn't get my fix either! Oh well at least it's up and running again now.
  13. Thanks for all advice everyone.
  14. Woohoo i got to see that movie tonight...and it rocks!! The fight scenes are fab. Kez x

  16. Thanks Aodhan. Great advice. I have actully signed up for a diploma in sports science and exercise. I will look into the business courses too, maybe i could do a small one from home. Kez x
  17. I have never been to a taurnament so i wouldn't know. I had never noticed excessive kia's in our dojo, just very loud one's...which even i am guilty of.
  18. I remember on a martial arts programme called fight school the contenders had to stand in this stance holding plates on their fingertips. This was what you call endurance!
  19. Good luck to you! I have recieved acupuncture for different conditions and it works wonders, i loved it. Good luck in your future.
  20. No problem Brandon. He's probably fully retired by now.
  21. Years ago when i was a kid i trained under sensei Jack Tilley. I was just wondering if anyone knew his whereabouts now. He had a dojo in Stockport..uk which closed down years ago. He was a fantastic karate sensei and im surprised i cant find anything about him. Can anyone help? Kez xx

  24. Thanks everyone. I had a great night last night. The chinese was lovely, i ate so much i couldn't drink me beer cos i was too bloated The food was gorgeous, all different kinds of dishes, there was some i just wouldn't try but the ones i did were very nice. Seaweed is like tinsel but tasty. Oh well another year older the 30 next!
  25. So how do i stop the elbow locking when i'm doing fast punching combinations? My sensei is always saying that although it's fast but you must complete the moves properly.
