When browsing and posting on the forums i notice that a lot of members have lots of interesting and unusual usernames. So why did you pick your username and what does it mean. Shotokan kez, well i do shotokan and my name is kez (short for kerry). Mine being not so unusual.

Richard i completely see where your coming from. I had done shotokan for a long time when joining his shukokai club. The main reason i left there was because i wasn't reaching my full potential and rather than him checking out my skills and maybe doing an assessment i had to start from white belt again, this annoyed me a little because he didnt seem interested that i had many years of martial arts training in the past. When we left i was very honest with him and told he exactly how i was feeling and why i was leaving the club. Even to the point of telling him that i was returing back to my old shotokan club. He never spoke to me again! But i think he is being very petty taking it out on my son by not letting him return to train. Having said that Ryan came training with me on monday and did very well so i think he can stay where he is now anyway. So yes i do totally understand where your coming from, this guy told you a bare faced lie which also shows disrespect. The only rule in our dojo that we train elsewhere is that we ask permission from sensei.

Wow i used to do those straight leg raises all the time. I haven't done them in a while and my back has been fine, i wonder if it was that causing the pain.

Ninjanurse he always seemed to have a big ego, i dont want to diss him too much but he was a bit big headed and had lots of money and stuff.

We don't do a lot of this. We have a kumite class one night a month. I dont like fighting but i guess i have learn't how to defend myself in a situation.

What did i get and do i get out of martial arts training? All of the things listed above. My life has completely changed, i was blessed to have a fantastic sensei also.

Killer miller that was a great story, good for you man!! I have never known any fat karate masters, although there are some fat guys in our club and despite them training they can never put the correct effort in (on of them recently failed black belt).

I hope he does Patusai. In a way im kinda glad that he can't go back, because that would mean switching styles and i think that would just confuse him. I had no intention of going back myself and would have preffered it if we both did the same style anyway so we can train together and i can help him more.

Yeah i agree with everything here. I don't think i or my son would go back there if he paid us to. I think Ryan can come training with me on a monday night i think that one day a week is enough for him for the time being.

Well i think it's a shame you have had to change your jackets and such after putting money and effort into doing it. Really i agree with everyone else, the dojo should be named by the owner, the cheif instructor/sensei. Ours is simply lapwing SSK.
