  1. Wow Kieran thats very interesting.....if there was a thread about this some time ago and everyone is re-living it..i apologise i haven't been here all that long, despite the amount of posts hehehe
  2. YES ALSEY YOU SHOULD. Hehehehe it's fab, but i guess its what you like at the end of the day.
  3. Ok ninjanurse, so your saying that if you already have an illness brewing or if your already poorly, if you go out in the snow/rain your more likely to get ill?
  4. Oh right i see. Well usually in our dojo if someone new walks in then the class is generally more relaxed while the new girl/guy settles in.
  5. is that in america misterradley? I'm excited too!
  6. Well i'm almost at the end of day two. I was thinking this morning that for the rest of my life i wont have another cig, that thought was daunting and i nearly reverted. I phoned my sister, she quit three years ago and then i phoned my nurse at the surgery. So apart from the irritation, and bad tempers i'm doing ok....day two almost over. I am happy i have made this step, i'm just finding it very difficult. Thank you everyone for your support so far!
  7. I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. Do you mean that when someone new comes in your sensei is extra strict or hard on the rest of the class? If i'm right, then i think this may be a little harsh.
  8. Wooohhhhoooooo when is it coming out? I never thought they would ever do another rocky..i'm well chuffed
  9. I have never heard of any of these books but i have always wondered if there were any real martial arts story books out there (novels). I think a book a bit like the karate kid movies would be great. Anyone make any good suggestions?
  10. I think you misunderstand me hun. I am already 1st kyu. I was talking about brown belt course's, not gradings (or did you know that already and its just me being dumb)
  11. I'm about to go on my 2nd brown belt course. Just wondering if any of you guys have them and weather they are compulsary and what normally happens. In our club it's compulsary to take at least 3 and one of them has to be on 1st kyu before a black belt grading. Our courses last two hours with an hours class before hand. We mainly concentrate on one or two kata's and bunkai and maybe some kumite. I am really looking forward to sunday!
  12. Like someone else says i think everyone has times like this, keep at it hun.
  13. Thanks atalaya that helps, very interesting stuff!
  14. Yeah this is what im getting at. When my son left the sukokai club with me to go to shotokan they allowed him in on his yellow belt on the condition he didnt grade for six months. We were both really happy with this.
  15. I have never met any famous hero's of mine..but Bushido you totally hit the nail on the head with looking up to people...ie my sensei's. Also my mum and yeah i guess i'm a hero for my sons...thanks bushido you made me smile
  16. thanks guys! Day one almost over with lol
  17. Wow well done Alsey. It's well deserved you always give sound advice and help. Good for you!
  18. Welcome James.....Very nice car!
  19. Welcome back to the forums!
  20. We use this in shotokan when stepping through in front stance. To be honest i have never really thought of why it's done that way, so i find this thread very interesting. I'm going to ask my sensei about this tonight.
  21. No i guess belt and rank don't matter a great deal but when you are forced to start from the begining again without anyone even considering i was better, covering everything i had done before was a little irritating.
  22. Aww congratulations hun..... so much love on the forums at the moment it's lovely!
  23. Hehe thats a good one Adam...you smooth talker
  24. Hey. I posted on here a while ago about giving up smoking. Well today i took the plunge and put on a nicorette patch. So far so good. I have been frustrated and irritable all day but i'm NOT giving in to it. I didnt tell anybody because i have tried so many times before and they always say things like 'you always say that' 'You won't last long before your back on the ciggies'. And then if you dont succeed and start again they always say 'told you so'. So i just decided to share my news with you guys and then tell other people when i feel i have succeeded (unless of course they notice that im not smoking). Kez
