stonecrusher69 replied to jctkd's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Hung Gar...is great style and hard to train. You have to have real patience to make it. -
yeah,I had to use what I knew a few times but that was a long time ago. When I did not have a car and I used to walk alot at night.last something happend was late at night I was with 3 friends of mine. One of my friends through a bottle at this one guy that he knew.(long story)anyway, he was not alone.he had 2 other guys with him.My frind was knock down from a side kick to the stomack. The other guy with us ran like a baby which just left me there.I tried to help my friend but when I tried to get close to help my friend this other guy kept trying to kick me in the groin.I really did not want to fight, so I just kept blocking the kick and I would come in with a fake attach to move him back so I could help my friend.I was not able to help my friend he really got a beating, but he was fine in a few days. Not a great ending but it was real...

I'm a not a big avocate of cross training, however I feel its very important to spar and to test your art agaist other arts.If your not able to defend agaist so other art then your own then you need to either train harder (if you lask skill )or if your teacher can't teach you what you need to know then you need to find a new teacher, but I don't think the answer is in cross training.

Question about the Horse Stance
stonecrusher69 replied to Samurai Shotokan's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
the other things that come from horse stance training is a firm root and internal forse training. Also a low horse lowers your center of gravity making it hard for someone to push you over.
