stonecrusher69 replied to nanfeishen's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
I just wanted to make one more point about lineage.I havie nothing agaist linage.I think it's great to be part of that long line, but I don't pick a sifu or style just beause their lineage is amazing with great heros in th epast etc. -
Lineage ????

these are all good points about lineage.Myself, I don't believe someone linage provides very much as far as how effectiveness that tecaher is and and able to transmit to the student.exm. if you wanted to learn say Tai chi from a famous and respected master(say sun lu dong)I could say with safety he would be a good teacher, but if i could not learn from him but instead learned from 2generations down from him. Then that is a different story. That sifu skill might be totally useless.Due to a lot of factors.Like not training hard. His sifu not really teaching the art right etc.So if really want to learn something usefull don't look at lineage look at what that person can do because that is what your paying for.you pay your money to learn how to fight not to claim royality to some lineage. -
I guess bruce Lee was the first cross trainer..before him it was tabo to MAA.

I think if your just into the MA for your self Linage is not important, but ifyou intend to teach at some point then you need to know it.If your student ask about the style what do you say? -

I don't think it's a scam but I doubt if it's worth the price. Many things in the book I'm sure can be found else where. -

I think the reason in Sanchin the breathing is hard is because your tensing the muscle and using a lot of energy so you will naturaly breath harder. In Tai chi beuase your not using a lot of muscle strength you don't have to breath as hard.

stonecrusher69 replied to dippedappe's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Sure Wing Chun can beat Muay Thai BJJ etc.It has been done already.Of course not on the level of ufc pride k-1 something like that.I have a good friend from canada who does only wing Chun he was canadian champ in full contact sparring.he beat Muay thai guys Bjj guys and other style,so I think it can be done. -
If instructors give promotions to keep and attract new students, then I think it will come back to haunt them.Soon people wil see there rank means nothing. When I go into a school if I see to many Black belts I head for the door..

Can modern fencing be considerd a MA or Martial sport? Do you think it 's effective as a weapon art in today's world?
