  1. very interesting...I don't think WC and CLF are very similiar.I think your style is closer to the Hung Ga style. In CLF to you put a lot of empthisis on the horse and rooting like Hung style?and how do you feel about traditaional weapons training do you feel it is still valid in a modern socieity?
  2. does anyone know if what the monks where trainning the traditional forms or morden wu shu stuff? I don't think the traditional forms are being taught anymore wu shu is so poplor now.
  3. HI..I don't study C.L .F but maybe you could answer some general questions about your style.I Know C.L.F is a vast sysytem that has many forms, and I don't think anyone could learn them all.How many forms does a student have to learn as a minium to get the essence of the system or teach. In my system we have only4 forms so its easy for everyone to learn them all but of course hard to master.Do you also have any training that envolves sensitivity devolpment? Is Sparring common training in C.L.F and how long does it take before a student starts sparring? Is C.L.F now-a -days geared more twords self defense(traditional training)or more for competion?(point fighting).I have some pictures of C.L.F sifus in mags showing sparring application but the technics he was performing looked very generic not like C.L.F. is there a difference between sparring technics and traditional application?
  4. What style of Tai chi is it? depending on ths the style say like Chen is a bit more difficult to learn then say Yang, but then again there all hard lol... good luck...

  9. Most traditional styles are a complete system because they have been tested over many generations of there effectiveness.I don't think it's the styles tht counts but more the M.A skill that's important.
  10. Leung Ting Book simple called Wing Tsun Kuen is a good book.It has the frist two forms in it and some appliciations.
  11. I LIke the jook lum style alot. How long have you been studing it and are you from from Jin foon mark lineage?
  12. you should ask your self what style is more to your liking then find a good teacher in the style. If your not sure maybe you can try both styles for a few months then make a choice. My style is Wing Chun but I studied a few other styles before I found Wing Chun.Wing Chun is mostly a striking art close range .JJ has a lot of Chin na in it which wing does use to much.If your a beginner check out as many styles as possible.maybe the right one you have not come aross yet..
  13. I"ve heard of both Jason Lau and Francis Fong.I've never met eighter one of them or crossed hands so I can't say how good they are.I think it s safe bet that both schools would be a good choice based on what I've heard. If your new to Wing Chun its hard to pick a good school due to your lack of skill .Feel both schools out compair both.If you know someone who has some trainning in Wing Chun it would be good to bring him alone. Good luck

  19. I remeber when I started in Karate many years ago.I just started training for only a few months and the instructor had me sparring>i had no idea what I was doing.I think it"s a bad idea to start sparring to early on,and you tend to develop bad habits.Sparring should'nt be used as a tool to learn to fight(as I used to think)but just a testing tool to reinforce what you already can do,and to take it a little closer to reality fighting..
  20. I just like to add my 2 cents in.How you pronounce Wing Chun in Engish is not pronounce the same in Chinese.I have a few friends from China and if you say wing chun to them they don't know what your talking about. They pronounce Wing Chun Young Chung.Anyway, not all styles of Wing Chun have 3 hand forms. The system I studied has 4 hand sets and many two man forms.6 dummy forms which Yip Man style only has one,but yes,I would agree Wing Chun is a lot easier to learn and apply then most systems but just has hard to master.

Jiu wan and William Cheung where both students of Yip Man.Jiu Wan was one of the first students Yip man taught when he moved to HK.William Cheung came later.Yip Man taught his students all differently based on there age ability and so on.That's way there are so mant different versions of the same systems.Jiu Wan Lineage is a little different but its stil Wing Chun.
