  1. your right not all WCK comes from YIP MAN...MY WC does not either, but when I read the post Wing Chun or Wing Stun. or . Wing Stun comes from L.T who comes from Yip man lineage.
  2. wing chun, wing stun, ving stun all comes from Yip man so how different can is be.
  3. I hear steve swift is very good.I was not able to open the link.how did he do the back fist. Does he keep his elbow in or out?
  4. Great, glad to hear your enjoy your Wing Tsun.As time goes on you will see the connection between Shoalin and Wing Tsun. They have almost th esame moves but smaller movements with structure in the wing tsun.
  5. dippedappe...good luck with your wing tsun training. How do you like it so far?
  6. If you read sifu wong 's book shoalin Kung-Fu its has the details of the one finger shooting zen.Its a chi gong movement.
  7. Sil Lum just means Shoalin..LIke Buk Sil Lum (northern Shaolin)
  8. well you can't deny that ever move as an application. You learn the applications from the form..
  9. yes SPM is similar to wing chun inmany ways.its a short in-fighting system that uses short power(ging)The hand techniques are similar. But both have a different flavor.SPM and WCK have similar weapons like the long pole and short knife. Both systems have sensitivity training.Thats about all I can tell you about it.By the way what is your email??I'll forward it to my friend.you can PM it to me if you like..
  10. My friend who practices Jook Lum SPM comes from a different linage then sifu Henry Poo Yee.If you lIke I could pass on your email to him and he could tell you alot about this style.I have only limit information. He trains in New Jersey. There is no SPM sifu in NJ ,but his sifu comes every couple of months to train them very hard and check on their progress. If you could get a few people together who like to study SPM.Im sure he would come down and train you guys.My friend is making very good progress in the system. In this style you need a training partner. There are many drills that are practiced with a partner..Anyway,if your very interested in SPM would I would check out my friends sifu. He's from Chicago. He has excellent skills. Good luck..
  11. sure alot of M.A. where devolped and refined within family members and the royal family.style like Taiji, Bagua where practiced by the royal family other styles like Chen taiji, Lau gar,Choi wing chun,Chow gar praying mantis and many others where styles devoped within family members only.
  12. Do you mean M.A's that the royal family practiced?
  13. that's a good way to look at forms.I think when you do learn applications that will reinforce your form even more and you will have a deeper understanding of the purpose of forms.
  14. I've heard mixed opinions about sifu henery poo yee.My ex- sifu told me he met him and he was very skilled, but I heard also form a friend who practices SPM aswell that he changed the system alot .If I was you before you join check other SPM syles and compare that do what this sifu is doing and if you can try to read up about this style and know as much as you can before making a decisiion.
  15. It could be that maybe your sifu has a problem comunicating his ideas. Some sifu are good fighters but not always the best teachers.
  16. Mantis....how is your chi sao practiced?is it similar to wing chun?
  17. i heard it was illegal to practice MA in mainland china until the 80's.
  18. Goju_boi are ther any WCK school in P.R ? and what lineages?
  19. The history of WCK is like religion it's up to you if you want to believe it.
  20. Yeah, that website news some work.I was disapointed.there was nothing that showed what the style was about. Not even a picture of the founder.
  21. I'm not sure but I think he's asking how long do you sit in Ma Bu .
  22. I did not see the clip, but the power in WCK comes from the root, elbow and proper structure. In boxing the power comes from the shoulder, turing of the bodyand body weight.
  23. I say Wing chun is best only because its what I study.Kali is good also with sticks and knifes but they don't do much empty hand fighting.Kav maga Looks very effective from what I've seen in books. It looks like a combo of chinese striking arts, western boxing, and ju jitsu.
  24. Hi Gold Dragon....I live in Northern NJ ,Totowa ,a small town.Im about 30min from NYC.,
