MMA(many styles) or one at a time?
patusai replied to DJmma's topic in Instructors and School Owners
Personally, would do the MMA if that is what I wanted. -
This interests me more that I thought it would. Aside from the kata chosen how would you distribute them (I mean at what levels or rank would each of the kata be required? Would all be done for Shodan? ). Just curoous as to how you are looking at this.

I hope that you find some woman that treats you better. Good luck

There have been those that suggested doing kata so hard that you get red in the face is not good. = Sanchin. Most of the masters that practiced a hard form of Sanchin died at a reletively young age. As for your question. Shimabuku sortof did it too (in addition to Shito Ryu as was mentioned). Shimabuku used 9 kata. Personally I would suggest removing Pian Godan. I'd also follow something similar To Shimabuku but removing SuNsu. This would leave: Sanchin Seisan Sieuchin Naihanchin Wansu Chinto Kusanku There would be room for 3 more kata. I would suggest: [a]Passai (Tomari possibly) - I read where Shimabuku at one time possibly included it in his list...possibly Gojushiho or Useshi - I heard that Shimabuku at one time had this kata in his list too...possibly Finally, one advanced form in Nahe-te and I am not sure which one would be appropriate. I do not have a great understanding of the higher level kata in this area. Good luck. Let me know what kata you decide upon.

If you are fortunate enough to have both a Shotokan and a Gojuryu school near you I would take the opportunity to vist both, talk with the instructor and maybe even take a few classes of each to better determine your path selection. Good luck in your selection

Congrats on the past and best wishes for the future for the both of you

Good luck

I read that McGuire used excessive amounts of both substances. Of course, I admit, everything I read I later find out is not accurate. Over the counter supplements can be of concern since, depending on how they are classified, they may not be reviewed by any FDA type authority.. If you feel a need to take any such ting I would check with your doctor first so that he can evaluate both you and the substance. Good luck in your decision and in your quest.

Welcome to the forum. Good luck to you in all of your studies

Each of mine taught karate (although one also taught Aikido). They ranged from 3rd to 9th.

I agree whole heartedly!!!

Look at the various schools around you to see what is available and you may find something that connects with you. I would not rule out TKD either. Although you did not care for it when you were little now that you are older...sometimes tastes change. You have to take stock of yourself too. MA can be TKD, Karate, Chinese Kung fu type. There are other MA studies such as ju jitsu, Akido, judo and others that may interest you. Water Polo, from what I am told, is a very physically demanding sport. If you can do that and you can channel your energy into some form of MA I am sure that you will do good things. The best of luck to you in your quest

I'm not sure exactly under what conditions our are talking about. Is it in the ring or when you say " So how can i better stomach beating people up?" I get the impression that you are talking about in the street. I assume that you are not talking about being the aggressor in a streetfight. I assume you mean in self defense and you are not on the offensive. If you are in a streetfight and can't physically walk away from it you may find that striking a person in the face may be the only answer to ending the fight to the point where you can walk away. As for a sparring match in a class and going tov the face, it use to be that face contact was minimal for beginning students. I would, as I usually do, suggest talking over your concerns with your potential instructor. He/she can guide you better. Good luck in your search fopr the peace that martial arts can bring you

拳法 might be what you are looking for but in my search I have found a number of different variations. Maybe ask a higher ranking instructor for more direction

Androstenedione was used by the German Olympic athletes. It is a pill that goes to the liver and the liver will convert it the testosterone for strength and energy. Creatine is not as strong as Androstenedione but still is considered a performance enhancement drug. Creatine stores protein and water in the muscle and lets the user workout longer. These performance enhancement drugs work like steroids. They have been dubbed by many as “over the counter roids.” Like the illegal form of steroids, you are supposed to take the enhancement drug when working out. McGuire is credited with using both. That said, you are free to do what you want. Either way, I wish you the best of luck and health.
