  1. Kinda hard to tell isn't it. You have to take into account all of the 10th degrees in this country. If they aint in charge of the style you gotta wonder what they are doing with the Judan title. As for the Americans 3 - 4 years of training...I read in some of their own bios that 18 months is about right.
  2. kinda goofy sounding I know but find a diving coach who trained under Hobey Billingsly from Indiana University. Hobey is a master at kenetics and motion and the jump and spin can be trained. Goofy I know but I have seen martial artists who were divers who were taught by either Hobey or one of his students who have done amazing things in the air.
  3. Kanken Toyama believed that there are no styles of karate...only karate.
  4. You know Chibana Kusanku or any of the others that Chibana taught as Chibana taught?
  5. Belt color does not matter. why not wear a red and white patch belt?
  6. Even Shimabuku taught his style differently at different times. His first generation students each had different thought which they added. I have seen kata done differently from each. Of the many of the many 10th and 9th degree black belts in Isshinryu that each claim leadership not too many do things exactly the same. Relax, you are studying from a teacher who was taught by Don Nagle. Besides, As Kanken Toyama said There are no styles in karate there is only karate
  7. sorry to criticize you, but if you study under Shihan Demura, then why does your style say Shito Ryu instead of Shorin Ryu, because Shihan Demura teaches Shorin Ryu Nope, as one other post afterwards suggests Demura teaches Shito Ryu...honest!
  8. I have studied a number of styles and different teachers of the same style use slightly different belt ranks. So-Ryu: White Green Brown Black Black 5th = Black with 4 cm red tips
  9. I am looking to correct my kata. Is there documentation (video, DVD, written) on the Chibana version of Kusanku (Kushanku)? Thanks
