  1. IMHO, fighting at the white belt level this time may afford you a few more wins...perhaps. Experience at the white belt level after you are probably past that level probably does nothing for you except to let you know that you are a blue belt potentially and can fight better with the white belts. How you will feel if you go to the tourny and lose all of your matches? However! talk with your instructor before you do anyting. Talk it over with him/her. They can counsel you to take the right path
  2. Hearty congratulations on your achievement
  3. I'd talke to the instructor. They are probably beginner adult classess too. As for diet, start working out slowly. Walking and building up the length that you walk is a good and safe way to start...usually
  4. Sometimes we may only practice 3 days a week at the school but practice more at home which cuts into other things that we had going on. Sometime too all we talk about it the "joys of karate" and our conversations with out friends (girl friends and others) seems to not only center around karate but are totally all about karate. Karate has help you in many ways from what you said. I would say first of all make sure that you balance karate with the rest of your life. I knew guys who slept, ate, drank, etc karate to the point of obsession and lost wives, girlfriends and jobs because of it. Balance. Time for everthing that is important to you. Just my suggestion. Good luck.

  13. elbows flying out we had them punch while there punching shoulder was near a wall. If they did it incorrectly the elbow smashed into the wall. As for the fist, depending on how it's suppose to be made and some may do it differently, taken their fingers down to their palms, pull up and try to tuck the skin above your palm line crease inside. Now that I said it I'm not sure it that clear...

  16. the perfection of my character even in my 50's after 35 years I have yet to scratch the surface and am not much better than I was 35 years ago
  17. The term to me today Martial Arts in confusing. My point is that Martial Arts can possibly be better defined much like the Bachelor or Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in college. Some of what is studied is an art and yet some if what is studied (especially the eclectic styles) might better be classified as a science. I'm curious that if you could classify your martial study would you consider it an art or a science and why. Thank you so much
