Ha, some certain ways people think can have an effect, perhaps yours? you would only know that though
-
Only because i didnt know how long stretching took to have results lol..
-
Hey good luck on your 2nd dan, how long have you been in shotokan? Also dont you have to be 3rd dan to teach?
-
I dont think so, with more people means youll have more funds to support those people, so as long as you have good fiancing control you should do well.
-
lol reading all this was actually discouraging for me
-
Congratulations Good luck with the rest of your training as well!

I think those kinds of questions we all silently ask ourselves, a couple ways you feel better about not knowing to the immediate answer is too mediatate, and some other tricks, but mostly concentrete on what stlye and who do you want to train under, then with correct guidence the right sensei should be able to give you the tools to figure your self out. Good luck

Karate v Boxing
Menjo replied to shukokai2000's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Yes but its all general when its said which is better, chances are there is a guy who takes one of the martial arts you said wouldnt win agaisnt a boxer might have someone who would beat him, or some other guy who doesnt take martial arts at all would win. The only reason why i originaly thought boxers couldnt fight well was because all the ones i faught were really really easy to beat, so personel examples usually get lost in the generalization. But yea that guy must have been really good. -
Thats a good question, I dont train in my yard because everyone would think im nuts so i train in a part of my basement just big enough to do a kata and have enough room to comfortably train. And i have some equipment down there also.
-
Yes actually, I went to my sensei and told him i what i was doing but didnt say i wanted to prove anything. He thought it would be good for me to have combat experiance so on certain days i would train sparring. I went to a muay thai gym and talked to one of the instructors, and he helped me get in really good shape and showed me some stuff that i would need to know. So yea somedays i would spent hours and hours just on sparring in my freetime. The hardest thing is getting started, so you might have to come in with a hurricane because most people might not take you seriously.

I kinda had the same feelings awhile ago, i went and faught mauy thai fighters and MMA fighters in any MMA tournament i could, and from my shotokan training i manadged almost all victories except for 2 losses and 1 draw out of 34 something fights. But i didnt really acompish anything except for an ego, strentghen your ground work because youll need it. But i realized i wasnt going to change anyones views so i went back to shotokan and kept training the way i did before, good luck in your goal.

I might listen to some fast paced music, sometimes i just get in a certain mood. If your angry, however i mainly just start hitting the punching bag lightly then i suddenly cant help but go full force then it just continues from there, find your own little ways and thell always work the best.
