  1. Ok but just for some input, going until your a black belt and getting to black belt doesnt make you better at karate, its kinda contradicting actually.
  2. I agree, and good luck also with your future training .
  3. Ummm, little more info would be helpful such as where you wanna go with your martial arts life, however ill say jujitsu might be nice with your karate training. Or krav maga but i dont know enough about it to recommend it...
  4. lol yea what he said, but good luck and bug your instructor to teach you above what you need. Aim High
  5. Even though i dont break boards and wouldnt bother i think what he meant by technique is by inproving kime, and body connection which in turn improves technique?
  6. thanks alot! ,umm thats a hard question.....How well you do and how fit you are in TKD will depend alot on your instructor and what kind of influence he has on you. With proper teaching you should be in shape, but you gotta take it home too, if you have alot of free time why not improve your life by practicing what you learned instead of the tv. If you wanna stand out, your already doing it...by taking that extra initiative you wont only learn youll learn too learn. Also use your kime, and alot of the rest comes in time and self preserverance. Too be honest though i wouldnt be the right person to tell you the differenance between MMA and TMA, maybes its a personal thing or really simple, but ill tell you my thought on it. I think the difference is how the training is done, MMA i find train more on physical gaining weight and really relying on statistics to increase themselves, MMA is supposed to be the best of TMA however what i think people fail to notice is that by taking away an aspect of a martial art your defeating the whole purpose. Its like making a person out of 6 people..............................lol, yea exactly. But dont get me wrong i am in no way bashing MMA just giving a different insight on it. For that clean/ripped look your looking for, i would suggest a higher source of info...google, try to look for some exercises that do what you want with your body, have certain days to work on one part of your body and drive that extra mile that you dont want to go, and make sure you rest your body, give it recovering time and you should be good.
  7. Agreed, and its making martial arts look bad. Part of this topic is proof of that.
  8. Thats cool i never knew that, thanks. Why do adds say its works better, because i really dont think it does?
  9. Well i took mauy thai originaly to prove to MMAs that TMA is still strong, however then i realized the great fitness work out i was getting and then finaly i liked some of the techniques and even though i dont incorperate it into my shotokan techniques i still have the combat experiance which i couldnt get from shotokan. Iam 3rd kyu in shotokan (brown) and ive stayed brown because i really wanna earn my black belt i find anyone today in martial arts can get a black belt and even though a black belt doesnt make a difference to me, i dont want to have one, and not have a really good knowledge of it all.
  10. Yea, i wonder how they fight agaisnt people who dont take sumo.
  11. Yea, but only when the mongolian family took out other familyies(tayichiud) was the art adapeted into their culture( early 1200s)
  12. Actually many mongols used tatics from temujin, however many of temujins tatics were from ONG Khan in his earlier years. However they did use similar tatics to the huns and respected tham quite alot, however contrary to popular belief they usually used less violent ways unless insulted. O yea, and before the mongol clan united the steppes temujin and jamuka created alot of tatics for their own basic warefare until they ran into more fortified nations such a china, poland, georgia, turks, and had to develop tatics for their invasions of japan. So yea, mongolia from my knowledge had a better understanding of siege warefar, intimidation, and horseback riding since each kid would be able to stand on a steed runnig full speed when they were close to 6, But they lacked any naval strategy whatso ever, which is why japan massacerd them. "they where just an army rite?" Actually they conquered the world pretty much, and owned more land than any other country and even today( they pretty much had all of asia, including northern china). They would have beaten europe however temujin(genghis Khan) wanted to destroy india, and that resulted to his death in 1227 from illness. O yea, they had a capital laws agaisnt slavery and were very cililized compared to other countries of the world, and genghis khan did most of it with less than 100 thousand men.
  13. Me?, um ill answer anyway i take shotokan now and that was my first martial art. Then i took mauy thai and shotokan for 1 year and a 1/2, then switched back to shotokan.
  14. Menjo

    Blocking

Too bad rocky didnt take a few lessons from you.
  15. actually whats really wierd, is when drop something i used to freeze up and not really do anything like if i droped a plate, however now probably because of martial arts, i catch the object without even thinking about it, its kinda cool.
  16. I find the most important part, if i was going to another dojo is to watch the instructor. You can look it up i bet something on looking for instructors will be there, there are certain things about an instructor that makes him/her so good at it. One of the things is sometimes the more "fake" instructors really try to get you there, that says thier looking for money only and prob dont care about the students. But yea look it up on google.
  17. Yea, i cross trained for a short time alos, however i found shotokan much more rewarding, thats awesome how you have a good dedication!
  18. Iam not going, but could you tell me about it?
  19. Id kick him in the stomach(or groin) but other than that or jabbing the eyes id NEVER wanna fight a sumo, ever.
  20. Welcome
  21. Welcome back, and good luck for your new testings.
  22. Welcome
  23. Yea because of time strain id recommend muay thai, because its very easy to learn the basics and you get fit fast, also Brazilian jujitsu for the same reasons. I dont recommend the more traditional martial arts because they usually take alot longer to feel the benifits.
  24. I didnt expect to like it, but i thought it was a great movie. Although ive only seen #1.
