  1. oops I meant I disagree with louie_shotokan, so no confusion.
  2. Id have to disagree with you there. On the street if you can punch someone in the face and you have practiced enough, then that should be enough, if not with enough training you should easly be able to get someone on the ground onceve hit them in the face once, this presentes many opportunities to strike again again, however in the dojo you are taught to defend and run. There is no way therell will be karate tournaments where they will let someone else pound on someone else with techniques developed for centuries. Ive been attacked on the street, and it was over in 4 techniques(since the man was on meth it took more effort). A properly taught student in kumite can defend him/herself on the street.(depending on the situation)
  3. Ive noticed this also, I have many debates about this with many people. Such as thinking TMA would lose to modern UFC successful ones. If it worked on the battlefield hundreds of years ago then TMA actually taught traditionaly(which means everyday busting your knukles, and more intense workouts than what I do at my dojo then TMA would win. Also depending on the person but MMA I can see where people get this perspective, what people dont realize if TMA worked and MMA arnt as effective then TMA which is REALLY MA (i think anyway) then fighting agaisnt people using "UFC styles" the others are at a large disatvantage. Also Karate and some others are not what I read before "complete" with grappling and all, basicly my point is...in a real life situation these used to be taught TMA that are now like karate and kung-fu would still beat someone on the street because it is now geared for fighting for life, not sport with rules that disadvantage them. Its hard to all the points down on writing so i bet i missed useful aspects but i think thats whta i wanted to say.

    Harassment

For a week at school people buged me about it, then some idiot from another school came at me with a rock, so I caught his arm front thrusted his ribs then punched him in the face. That was along time ago but Iam glad people forgot I take Karate.
  5. For me fighting larger people is always fun. Ive grown alot larger now, however when I was a little kid I still always won the fights because its easy if your agressive enough(thats if they have no training). I find a good strategy is to ground and pound, dont let it turn into a wrestling match and it doesnt matter really what poistion your in, just grap and punch and knee stuff like that. If there on top, grap them closer and punch harder than they do. If worse comes to worse I focus all my energy and strength and one part of there body, say there arm. Grab it and completly bend it around, most likely there one arm isnt stronger than your entire body.
  6. Kinda, one time I was sparring with a friend in his house and I did a side thrust but since he has longer legs he did a front thrust and I went through his front door. Surprisingly it only hurt when I fell down the stairs.
  7. That site is very helpful,bad959fl thanks
  8. I once tripped and spilled coffee that some people wanted all over my instructor, on his uniform too.
  9. I guess animals have a thing agaisnt me, ive been attacked by dogs 4 times, a mountain lion, and a hawk attacked me once in my back yard . Those mountain lions are really built, but when I get attacked by a dog now i just palm strike, kick, knee, gouge at the head...never fails.
  10. I would Shotokan, it can be boring and tedious and not as flashy as tkd but...
