  1. aw man I know exactly what you're talking about. Its really annoying, ive somehow gotten over it now but when i used to spar in karate before muay thai if someone would ever through a punch at my face i would blink at the worst time and bam a point for them. I would practice not to blink at terrible times like that by moving my hand towards my face and tried not to blink.
  2. I think granmasterchen brings a strong argument and I agree. However in a situation like that I would run if they had weapons and if i was forced to fight I would take the three attacking myself(assuming I could) and help the other guy maybe...i dont have a cell but i would certsinly let someone know what is going on.
  3. I would never be able to finance those kind of payments, my club is non-profit so Iam pretty lucky there with only having to pay 70 every 3-4 months.
  4. Is it just me or has anyone else ever been in a dojo and some beginner yet older person thinks they are superior in some way. I wouldn't mind normaly and I would usually let them think what they want, however how are you supposed to react when they dont listen to you when thier supposed to?...
  5. Defitnaly, except I would go with a takedown so if she attacks again shell have to get up by then people will see its her and not me.
  6. Sounds disgusting, here in Canada its a matter of numbers. In the rural areas the skies thick with them.
  7. Congratulations
  8. I know someone who takes tai chi and he beats me everytime in sparring....i dunno how he does it but it works.
  9. When I get attacked on the street I make it so the attacker will regret his decision for quite along time but not enough for permanent damage.(unless the attacker has a gun, knife,needle....ect).
  10. Anyone of those could be what you're looking for. I dont know anything about kung-fu, however Muay Thai is fast paced and defitnaly striking...however Iam envoius of how theres a place in you're area that teaches kendo. Kendo could be very good hobby, and not to sure about competion. Kung-fu iam clueless about. Muay Thai would be more fitness hobby rather than perfecting technique(not saying theres no technique) and you can compete and good defense. My advice is to go to each training area( or dojo) and talk to the instructors and watch a few classes perhaps to get the feel of what the classes will really be like.
  11. Yeah, I have to agree with you on that one. Its like when my sister gets hurt, but she doesn't notice and keeps on playing, then when someone points it out, she starts whining because it hurts. Its happened to me before, I always have bruises and some cuts that I never knew I had, I mean they don't hurt hen I notice them because the "pain stage" would have been gone. I do not know if this post even made sense to the reader’s lol. I think so too, also I find people react on what they think it will be like and not what it actually feels like. When I was a little kid, my sister was trying to hit a punching bag while i moved it around(which kinda defeats the whole purpose but thats not the point). anyway i got punched in the face and started to cry and a minute later realized it didnt hurt.
  12. I would suggest Muay Thai, however any one of those would be a great choice, just depends on what you're looking for...
  13. Mine would be either side thrust or front thrust.
  14. I need help with some sparing...There are plenty of very tall people who in my area take Shotokan and I loose to because they are taller. The worst thing is, is alot of these people have terrible stance, technique...ect. Whenever I compete agaisnt this I feel like exploding and just forgeting the rules and running to get a shot in...any tips to get in on someone alot taller in kumite anyone?
  15. I dont think I could have chosen only one of those choices, but like monkeymagic I had several reasons.
  16. Thanks, does having a set breathing pattern while you run help?
  17. Wow you changed my view...
  18. Yes and no, for awhile I was a real egotist about it. Anyone who ever made me angry in the past and wouldn't take any crap from. However now its different, now im not nervous or tense to defend myself(even though I can still feel a little bit of nervousnes) and I try to think the situation through without violence.
  19. I find in most styles once someone is profecient without weapons, the weapons part has already been half way completed.
  20. I think its to do with the thinking. They maybe see kickboxing as a fitness and learning to fight and maybe some people would see it easier to learn kickboxing. I doubt theres a even small city that doesnt have a kickboxing place. And bringing back what some people said earlier theres alot of movies with famous female characters that take kickboxing.
  21. As alot of already do, running has become apart of my training at home. Im fit and very active but for some reason I cannont run far without getting winded. The short distance sprinting is fine, so I dont understand........is there something I should be doing, or is there any advice out there to help my training?

    Age

9 years in my dojo, it depends.
  23. I think the term grand master, should only be reconized with yourself when those around you see you as one. Even then putting those words behind will let you travel even farther in your training.
  24. Yep, many times, altough usually I use one or the other because I find they work without modifacations.
