what do you take with you to training for eating or drinking
Menjo replied to Jane_Doe's topic in Health and Fitness
just water(for shotokan and muay thai), sometimes an apple before a muay thai fight for energy boost. -
Why is kumite more important in western karate than kata?
Menjo replied to Monkeymagic's topic in Karate
Like what pretty much everyone else said most of karate is put into kata. So Kata is more important to me, however kumite is also important just a little less.(too me) -
In Canada it happens here and then but its never said.

Best Martial Art for me
Menjo replied to holytriforce's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
lol enough kicks and knees to the head changed my way of thinking a little bit anyway. Still a point that i missed is that kendo and kung-fu give a very different view on things and a different kind of discipline to youre life than muay thai. -
Yea I said it in a bad way...poor wording

But yes a serious injury shouldn't have any stress on it, and lots of rest and therapy.

I thought that also, but aparently compared to running which puts 3-4 times your own weight on your knees, bicycling has pretty much no impact so it just helps the muscle around the knee instead of hurting the bone. Just something I heard so good chance its wrong but just thought id bring it up.(it doesnt work if the knee is worn out or cartliage damage only if certain parts of the knee need recovery).

yea one guy got so mad because of what i did he started hiting my arms with his blocks, then i shouldn't have but started to bring my punches closer and closer to his body, but luckly it ended when we both apologized.

Defense against School Scuffles
Menjo replied to ShotokanKid's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
It is pretty agravating how alot of schools are so strict with this(I can see why though) however I find the best is too throw them down or if you think you really need to front thrust them. If you can tell someone is going to attack you may want to think about who they are and how they attack. For getting suspended most likely they will take your word over the attacker(usually the attacker has a history) if they dont its up to you to say the story otherwise theres nothing you can do which is really stupid. -
Riding a bike is a reall great way to build muscle around the knees I know this myself because i had to strenghten the muscles around my knees to keep up with shotokan(low deep stances) and muay thai.

I live in a relativly small house and backyard is all pants and garden and stuff so theres nowhere really to practice other than in my mind and more mental and stationary training other than the dojo i go to. It is only open 3 times a week and I would like to work on my kata with some open space......what would be a good solution?
