structure can relate to a alot of things your stance, posture, as well as alighment of your strikes like what was mentioned by the poster above. Stace is more about being moveable and shifting/applying your weight. Sort of like the idea that the hands do the job the body gives it the weight and the feet gets it there. Every thing helps the other so to speak. So understanding your particular style would be to look at it logically as far as time/speed/power they help each other.

BJJ question.
Adonis replied to Enviroman's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Yep. when some one avoids questions of who there instructors were fishy as well. There some very technical blue belts out there who just haven't been promoted yet but I doubt he is one of them. -
why everyone hates Taekwondo

Right on the money on what you said about being tough to have a viable consumer report. Your right it is about taste. What some may think as a mcdojo or unquality information others seem to love and think its the best thing to happen since slice cheese. -

Adonis replied to white belt's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I agree martial arts instructors should be payed more then the service the renderd. Martial arts isn't a relgion or some not profit oginzation. Now some schools may charge more then the others. Oh well go shop some where else then for a martial art school if you can't because itsthe only one around pay the price or don't train! -

why everyone hates Taekwondo
Adonis replied to white belt's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Depends its not just with taekwondo alot of styles are facing the "belt factory" problem so the new belts and generation are getting less technical each time because of that. Kenpo suffers it karate does as well as tkd. -
training in Missouri?
Adonis replied to Adonis's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
one of the gyms on the local list I saw I actually been by there two days ago. It wasn't impressing. A guy that had all these trophies on the wall and half of them were race car trophies. They had some bags in there and gym equpiment. then what I thought was wierd was two kiddie pools. The gym space wasn't that big. SO I thought that was wierd. -

Help with Triangle defense
Adonis replied to Scorcho's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
How do you get caught in the triangle postion in the first place. does he drive one of your arms between his legs and starts to work for the triangle on you? do you get caught doing the one arm under guard pass? any way if he has the triangle on you. The arm you have trapped put your elbow on of the same arm that is trapped into his stomach and put the hand on the knee pushing on the knee with the same arm. With the other arm go around and grab his knee and then stand up and forward driving yoru weight forward to stack them. turn your hips and weight pulling and pushing on the knee. pluswhile your stacking twist your hips to the side where your hands are pulling and pushing on the knee. Will help free the knee. There are other counters. Best is tokeep posture though. -
BJJ question.
Adonis replied to Enviroman's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
It all depends. If he is a good techical teacher and good on the ground and you enjoy the instruction and feel you are learning from him. Go for it. Like the points Useoforce put out. He is open minded and also help adapted the monthly payments to your financial situation. -
Not really. I mean it is alot with a full time job. I assume you don't have kids or a spouse to juggle with your passion for training and training schedule. It is a good schedule but isn't that intense considering you look at pro atheletes who train full time. but for a part time schedule thats pretty intense one.

Teaching BJJ?
Adonis replied to ronin.74's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
There is several things you can do. You can teach your own program of Modified Judo (which incorporates the BJJ you learned) Or you can ask your old instructor about there being a school that wants to set up some program and ask to be an affilate of your old instructor. Or you can see if you can help create the program for that school and ask see if your instructor can do seminars at the wushu school. This would be good for both you and your Bjj instructor. Say advertising together with your old school and the one you are at now. IF both owners agree to that. Its cheaper to do dual advertising. Also good for your BJJ instructor to make a little extra cash on the side doing seminars and such. -
wow! that a good work out schedule. Good trianing!

why everyone hates Taekwondo
Adonis replied to white belt's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
It is the most popular martial art as in most practioners primarily among kids. Since that has been supporting base for alot of commercial schools. So with rapid belt promotions and chains of schools around they have become very popular. Do I say its the most effective. That depends on alot of factors, time spent training. as well as focus of trianing, for speed, power, set up, and timing and other factors that makes a move work. Example taekwondo fights a boxer they both have simular body type but primarily in "general" most taekwondo schools focus more on kicking techniques then they do hand techniques. Now if a taekwondo can put a kick on the boxser and keep his distance and make his moves work then he can beat the boxer. but boxers are just hand techniques very limited hand techniques so more of there training is spent on pad work and heavy bag work as well as principles to set there moves up to work. So boxer closes that gap towhere the kicks don't be come effective then the boxers punching ablity will take care of the taekwondo guy. Making moves work depends on the trainign methods employed. How much the indvidual picks up the moves from instructor who is good teacher and teaches solid concepts of moveablity, balance, timing, distance control, speed power, and combinat set ups to make the moves work. As well as the practioner able to know his/her own body and pick up on these ideas and make them work for hm/her self. Any way I am dragging this post to long. Is there better arts yeah but depends on the instructor level and the student as well. There are more arts that can qet you to fighting level compared to other arts if the both practioners started same time and have same body type. Mainly because some arts h ave higher percetage moves that work compared to other arts. -
Are you a Thug or a Warrior?!

I am afraid when I fight, I am afriad of my upcoming deployment to Iraq for several reasons. I just don't let the fear control me and stop me from what needs to be done. People may have there own defintion of a warrior thats fine but doesnt mean its correct. Only correct to you. So saying some one else isn't a worrior depends on your defintion but to some one elses deftion they are a warrior. but I am going buy the dictionary definetion for that word. "some one who is willing to engage the enemy" -
currently army combatives and BJJ also going back to kick boxing as well. before I studed alot of shaolin kempo and white crane.
