The reason we train wrist grabs...
Adonis replied to traz's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I wrote all that before subrappler wrote his. He does alot better job at writting and pretty much already said what I wanted to say. I am just saying it is technique not sloppy brawling from people who know nothing as what seems to be suggested by other members. -

shorinryu sensei, I seen others do it but not as good. yeah he grabed the wrist the double leg was good how ever telegraphed it worked. He controled them from a grappling postion on top and hit. It may not be something you would see in your kunsanku kata or Pinions or Hakutsuru kata, it is ground fighting technique though. I see the techniques in bars and school yard fights not as precise in the movement so it is sloopy. I didn't think it was sloppy as those who don't train, but I train on the ground so.....yeah. I take it you don't train grappling do you? The guy who faught as a jiu-Jitsu artist I believe under Relyson Gracie, (don't quote me on that I just know he trains under some one from Hawaii) just choose to groud n pound instead. I am just saying it is technique that is used. How ever people think of the moral or ethical side of him doing it to that guy is a diffrent disscussion. As for the technique I am just pointing it out. He controled the wrist pulled shot in. Acheived dominant postion maintained control of it and punished the guy on the ground with strikes. -
Mike is write start asking people out, yeah you will get no's but it isn't the end of the world some one will say yes. have a good time and enjoy it. because more you ask more confidence it will build in you.

weather this bjj guy does is unknown.

I don't know I bet the other guy called the dude who did TKD out. I mean how else would the guy know he trained if the kid didn't brag about it? Sounds like how he writes on her is any indication. He probalby was bragging about it. So he got called on it. As for wrestling comment. bjj and wrestling are two diffrent arts. He may do moves that are found in wrestling like sprawling and single and double legs and other stuff, or he may do judo type take downs. Depends on if he ever wreslted or if his instructor cross trained in wreslting or judo. Or if at all. either way bjj isn't like wreslting. Yeah they both do ground stuff but techniques the employ and and stragies or finishing goal is diffrent. BJJ isn't known for its take down ability compared to arts like judo and and free style, and roman greco wreslting. So alot of bjj'ers cross train. To work on there take down ability.

You have a point there. actually what led up to the fight. was the guy started surfing when a surfing contest was going on so other guy swim in after him and told him to get out of the water. Kid didn't listen so they were fighting in the water and then fighting agian on shore. Yeah I don't agree with how the fight went down. Yet it still bothers me that people say it was a brawl when it was technique used. thats just my point. -

I disagree with you, he took him down with a double leg, controled from the ground and grounded and pounded the guy. He set him up using the wrist grab, despide popular belief wrist locks are diffcult to apply with a resiting opponet trying to knock you out. Especially another grappler who is used to subs. Weather you believe its technique or not. both me and sub grappler pointed out what he was doing with his ground fighting. Also what techniques he used. So IT IS TECHNIQUE he used to win the fight. May not be best of techniques or how other ground fighers would use, but it worked for that guy. -

actually the one who was doing the ground and pound did use technique. He is a BJJ stylist I forget his name. I remember reading in on an MMA forum. It was a good take down and good controling the person on the ground to set up strikes. Just because it doesn't look pretty doesn't mean it isn't techinque. It was technique and it was effective. -
limp wristed, pillow hitter cryed like a baby, I agree with Dkiizzle, that is pathetic. I seen that vid before.

I have seen that one before. This was up in Hawaii I believe the gringo jumped into the waves and tried to surf during a surfing competion, which he wasn't contestant, so the other guy went in and told him to get out guy wouldn't so they got in a fight and that part of it was the part of the fight were they were on the shore. Oh well! -

The Ultimate Fighter Finale
Adonis replied to fallen_milkman's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
umm... there was no light heavy weights in this season. It was welter weight and heavy weight. Last season TUF season 1, was light heavy's and middle weight. I was hoping for cummo but I knew Joe was going to win. Suprised cummo lasted so long with him on the ground. I knew standing cummo would have done fine. I was impressed with how well he avoided joe's subs from the ground. I enjoyed all the fights. very action packed and alot better then the pay perview UFC 55 hopefully UFC 56 will be very acation packed. -

Based out in Chicago and they did demonstration on the reporter for bottom line for Fox news, as well as brining in guys from the Jiu-Jitsu gym out in chicago to do the moves on. Stephan bonnar who was on season 1's The Ultimate Fighter.
