  1. If this film is even touched and the remake destroys the original then they should forever be rejected by the acting community and fired for life:P Its like rewriting the bible just for martial arts films
  2. Just a sheet of A4 paper medium grade it needs to be secured with strong tape to the string bruce lee recommends this in one of his books.
  3. Because they do shotokan generally our guard it long and open which is terrible i think you will find that they guy who wins doesnt have much of a guard either its just the way we are taught. Also he telegraphs quite a bit so he isnt unbeatable i liked the way how he mixes up his techniques and feints i didnt see any of the other guys feinting as much which made it very nice to watch and caused them problems. Although he was good i think the poorness of his opponents made him look better.
  4. I really didnt like the first conan film and this is the only one i have seen i thought that it was poor to say the least but im glad you have found something you like to watch, half the stuff i watch you probably wouldnt like.
  5. I agree you wouldnt be able to im even smaller than you and i would only think about taking him on if i had no other choice or if i had alot of actual fighting experiance such a being some sort of champion and if i could hit like bruce because this guy wont go down easy Run away its safer
  6. I have done this in the past usually involved hanging something from a string The first thing i made was a paper target which i used to fire straight punches at to develop speed. Second thing was a ball of the string which is good for target practice this one was also very fun and you can play with more than one person punching and kicking the ball trying to hit the other person.

  9. HAHA more moral whats moral about them attacking you in the first place groin shots finger jabs eye gouges all good its their fault for attacking you simple. In a street fight i belive it is very rare that you will have the distance to perform a head shot personally an elbow to head would be better and more realistic as a weapon to use. However if the distance is there then by all means throw a kick to the head i dont think most people would have the intelligence to grab it unless they saw it coming and i mean you should only be kicking to head if you are fast im by no means quick enough to pull this off although i can do it. On the thought of the low kick a kick to the shin or breaking the knee would be suffient i would have thought.
  10. If you cant train then just thinking about training helps go through the moves in your head apparently this also slightly stimulates your muscles so gives you very small gains.
  11. TKD will cover all the kicking in karate even though i didnt do kempo as far as i know basic kicking techniques are very similar so you should be fine here im interested to know do you mean the hand movements when you say foreign?

    Never ever heard it called that before i would like to know what the translation of that is as i think he may be talking about a different kick. Bushido man is correct you do not want to just jump up and kick you need to be moving forward otherwise this kick is useless which i think it is anyway but that is my personal opinion executed correctly im sure it probably could be fairly powerful just a bit too flashy for me. I have tried this and if you dont have any forward momentum as i am quiet light you will just bounce off the person with the pad so get some momentum into it.
  13. I would just like to hear everyones opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of forms in a system. Personally at the moment I hate them although I am not training currently( hopefully I will be again in a few weeks) and was one of the reasons for leaving my style although I know most style incorporate them so I guess I will have to live with them either way. Just like to know your thoughts on this Thanks J
  14. There are unfortunatly many schools like this and from being on these forums I belive you are refering to a McDojo intent on only doing one thing and that is making money. Intructors that make a living out of martials arts in my opinion there isnt anything wrong with it everyone has to make money to live and you are providing a service but these types of schools try and make as much of it as possible. From what you have told me im guessing this school is a TKD school. The problem is with schools like this it is unfair on the kids, they are given a false sense of security with them beliving these techniques will be effective in a real life situation by doing the exact same thing. In reality this would never work. Although you say that their art is full of many holes and obvious flaws i take it that you mean their interpretation of their art because every style has flaws and holes. I belive it is the teaching that needs to be addressed not the effectivness of the art if it was taught right im sure that it would be effective. I dont like the cocky and arrogant attitude of the teacher either, again i bet this passes onto the students who think they are better than they actually are. This kind of propoganda and teaching could eventually lead to a serious injury if a student thinks they can handle a situation they could have walked away from.
  15. You shouldnt find it too hard i dont think as far as i know there are slight differences in certain moves in the more advanced kata and the names are different also the stances are alot higher and relaxed which means less power but more movement

This is a load of rubbish person who hits first is wrong and person who defends himself is right the person who throws the first first punch in my opinion is generally always wrong unless the first punch had to be thrown in order to prevent the other guy hitting him first. As for the shooting business i wouldnt know as generally we dont have guns in schools ie its much less common in UK

  18. Yeah blade to the top is normal was the way i was taught. Its done to allow you to do a downward cut straight away i belive
  19. One school i was looking at said i had to pay to see a class and a wing chun school said i had to pay for 3months:S in order to be able to try it so it does happen lets say i avoided these schools
  20. Im just interested to find out how effective as a weight loss exercise you belive this is. Personally i dont need to loose weight actually im probably to light in my own opinion. However many people trying to loose weight swim. I have never thought that this was a very good CV exercise although it exercises alot of the muscles in your body. I just dont think think it is a vigourous enough exercise to help. My basis on this is that as far as i know i dont know any professional altheltes or people trying to gain 6 pack abs etc using swimming to do this therefore i think that it is ineffective but i dont know because i have never used it in my training im just interested to hear your opinions on this subject.
  21. skipping is good but like you said can hurt your shins although personally i have never had this problem my problem has always been my calves really really burn after about 5mins and then i cant do it the next day. Basically to loose body fat it is cardiovascular exercise combined with a good diet to increase the rate of fat burning. Exercises you can do-Skipping if only once a week will still help, walk everywhere you can, cycling, rowing and running.

I agree with everyone here, martial arts is a great way to loose weight the important thing here is that you will find it enjoyable which makes working hard easier or so i have found this to be the case. You may however reach a plateu in your training as my fitness failed to increase after a certain period if this is the case then add some suplimentary running or even walking into your work out.
  23. Well i have done something similar. I was doing some XMA or trying to do some and i dont really know what happened but i woke up the next day with an extreame amount of pain in my shoulder. So i rested it for about a week and stupidly i decided that i could punch. So i did a few straight leads and then 'pop' it cracked and went all warm inside. Hurt alot as well. Ever since it hasnt been the same i have had a weakness. So my advice is make sure you give it a good few weeks because even though the pain has gone it doesnt mean it has fully healed
  24. Im no longer scared if im happy when i die what do i have to be scared off i also dont belive in life after death so thats the end for me im not scared as long as im smiling
