A good MA video game
Ben Martin replied to orion82698's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
im not 100% sure but i think you can do that in the season mode in the UFC game on the dreamcast. i was playing that on fridaynight with aload of my mates after watching about 5 hrs of pride and ufc dvds that game is addictive. -
this is why i love teaching watching your students progress it gives you such a great feeling( im a nursery teacher by the way) and why i cant wait to start teaching MA even though i have a long way to go. i cant wait to be able to teach the thing that means the most to me.

Help with a Kung Fu movie?
Ben Martin replied to tufrthanu's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Im sure it will if its the right film Is it any good? -
i loosen my self up with some jogging on the spot and some star jumps. then i run 2 the end of the hall do an exercise then run back and repeat. the exercises i do are pressups, starjumps, alternerts, situps and burpees. start with one and once you have done that do it again but with 2 reps do that until you get to 10reps of each exercise. i also do a few rounds of shaddow boxing with 10 burpees or some times 10 pressups 10 situps and 10 star jumps inbetween but adding 10 on each time, ( 10, 20, 30, 40) and if there is a bag i usually wotrk that for a few rounds too. then i have a long stretch and do my upper body in the horse stance. oh also i like to do the ultimate burpee (search in the kickboxing section for discription) and insted of bringing my hands back to my legs i kick forward and go across the hall and back.

ha i feel your pain. when i first started kickboxing i was to fat to do more then 2 or 3 propper pressups so i used to do them on my knees along with all the females in my class. but the best way as stated above is just to keep trying, the more you practice the better you will get. my friend always does 200 pressups everytime he leaves his house so maybe you could try doing 10. Good Luck!

i dono it sounds to me like youve been watchig to much jet li No, that really does work. It kind of sucks, but it's better than nothing. Some of the old boxers in the bare-knuckle days used to do that as part of their strategy. ok maybe it does work but what is the likelyhood of hitting the flying fist with your forehead and not some other part of your face. the only time id ever try to do that is if i had my arms held behind my back and couldnt do anything else.

or e pills, coke and speed since i started having fruit and water for breakfast i have felt alot more awake and energetic in the first half of the day (but i do need to graze on it up until lunch). i have gotten rid of the tea or coffee and just drink warm water and do the same at work. i have the same problem with getting tired during the day. if i have a late night i will often sleep for an hour or 2 after lunch as i finish work at 1am but i can't seem to stay awake. so i think the best bet is to go to bed eariler.

practice both thai and the snap karate roundhouse kicks. though i do find that the thai kick has so much more power my cousin though he was hard and asked me 2 kick him in the leg when he was drunk i didnt do my hardest but he moved about 2 meters towards the direction my leg was going and then walked in a circle and sat on a step. damn i wont be doing that 2 anyone again (unless its the a real fight or in the ring) but that just showed me how much power the thai kick has comapred to the karate kick.

i dono but the only way i can think of is to try not to get hit rather then practice taking punches to the face. the more you do sparing, tournys, fights what ever you do the more hard face shots u will take and that over time that does help to toghen up most peoples jaw.

Old Kung Fu Movies
Ben Martin replied to back_fist's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
i didnt really like that film the subtitles were to hard to read as they were often the same colour as the background. i have my ma collection next 2 me and on the back of this film it says jackie took over 1000 takes for the shuttlecock scene which was a world record. i personally think thats the only good part of the film. -

not great i haven't been to class in about 2 or 3 months i stopped due to the amount of college work i had towards the end of the year and when i finished college i went on holiday on the night i came back i hurt my back so im just waitin for it to fully heal so i can go back. i bumped into our highest rank student last night at notting hill carnival and she told me everyones missing me..... but she was off her face as was about a few million other people. but im looking forward to going back i miss not being able to train and they fact that im going to thailand in april for a few months has really hyped me up to train.

UFC used to have alot less rules. the main rules before were no small joint manipulation, not biting and there was no weight class. im not to sure about all the old rules i only know this because i have UFC greatest hits 1 but i know you used to be able to srtike the groine and knee and kick to all of the head so it used to be alot more like real fighting but that is when it was outlawed in every state but texas. Small joint manipulation.Does this mean you can't use locks?? If so does this include things like the figure four type locks? If so, how can we consider this efficient and realistic grappling? im sure it says somthing about you having to have 4 fingers min so you cant do things such as bend someones finger back rather then things like arm bars.
