  1. I agree with your statement about the double round house kick it is only useful for light and semi contact. if you can do it propperly then do it in light or semi i did when i was grading and thanks to that kick i got got a grade and a half i skiped my orange and got a temp yellow. but in full contact that is a big no no. i don't really use that kick any more even when we semi spar. with the back kick this is my sensei's fave kick if you can execute it propperly it is very effective. in our kickboxing club we concidee it one of the basic kicks, the 4th basic kick. i've seen it being done many times and when it hits its is really effective. personally i don't ever do that kick as i am crap well maybe not crap but not great at all the spinning kicks i don't think i would ever use them even if i was a black belt. but if you can do that kick propperly then i advise you to use it as it is a great kick.
  2. my mistake make that about 2 weeks and i have noticed the difference when training especially today in the gym i broke my record on the rowing machine and lifted 110kg when squatting which i was never able to do before.
  3. on thursdays i get a train up to the lesson and a bus back it takes about 45 mins. on sundays i have to get a train and a bus and then a 15 min walk that takes me about 2hrs to get there. i live in south west london and my senseis has lots of classes but they are all up in north west london appart from the thursday whch is is west london. i would go to the others but i don't really have the time on a weekday as id get home at between 11 or 12 at night so i just go to the gym insted. when i finish college im going to check out the club thats 5mins away from my house and see what thats like and go there twice a week if its any good.
  4. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE medcine balls every second day i do 3 sets of sit ups with medcine balls dropped on my stomach. i have someone stand over my legs drop the ball on my stomach from their head hight and then let it hit my stomach then i grab the ball put it behind my head and hit it off the floor then do a sit up and hand it to my partner and repeat it. when i get to 20 seps are ask them to throw it hard and then when i get 2 25 i ask them to throw it their hardest at my stomach. i wait 30 secs to a min and then do it again. so it works out that i have 2 sets of normal drops and 1 set of hard drops. the balls i use are 5kg which now seems like a beach ball but its teh only 1 in my colege gym and an 8kg which i use in my boxing gym on sundays.
  5. yeah as your only 14 you shouldnt do any weights yet but lots of body exercises burpees and ultimate burpees are the best i personally think, theres a thread in the kickboxing section about them if you don't know what they are.
  6. Thanks for the info. i have been taking it for about a week now i drink so much water when i train any ways but now im drinking about a litre an hour.
  7. if you guys think wearing tights maks you look stupid well i rock my box on the outside and it also says playwell over the front in big black letters
  8. well you could always go back to the old skool ways of having your hands wrapped in string dipped in glue and then in glass Sandhoppa your size is fine there are some really good heavy weight thai boxers in the uk Garry Turner is my fave. AS far as my training is going it could be better. i re-injured my big toe in my tourney a few weeks ago( i broke it on the joint last nov) so iv'e had to miss my kickboxing lessons during the week as i can't hack being on my toes for an hour and a half even a little while hurts. im still doing my boxing and kickboxing on sundays well its just maily boxing as it hurts when i kick so im just spending the 3 and half hour on the bags flat footed and workin my stomach and doing 1 leg pressups. on the good side i've ben doing alot more weight training as i can't kickbox and that is going really well. i spent two and a half hrs in the gym today after work and i am exausted i had a killer session. i'm just looking forward to my toe healing if it ever does, im starting to think ill always have this problem. i broke it when i wore the kick boots for the first time then i wore it once in lesson and i was fine then again in my last tourney wearing them for the 3rd time, it hurts when i wear them but i can't not wear them now as it hurts after a few kicks
  9. i love to kick aside from the knees they are my fave weppons. though i sayuing that im not really in to the advance kicks that we do at kickboxing maybe its because ive only been doing it 2 years but really can't see my self doing all these fany spinning kicks that we get taught. the only kicks i dop are front round side and Crescent (sp?) kicks some times i throw in an axe kick if i want to keep them away or if i see them coming in and im sure i can hit them with it. im also a high kicker i love to go for the head. round house is my fave kick but i know if i dont execute it at the right time i can be easily taken out. but being fat all my life (before i started training) had a good side to it because i now have really big calfs monster calfs and really quite big quads too so when i do the round house to the head full contact and it gets blocked i hardly every get hit back as its such a force even in semi sparing its still a strong kick.
  10. i totally agree with you lol @ the 50 cent lyric i'd die for my chain
  11. ive got a few akido demonstration vids if u want um pm me with ur email ive got some other ma vids 2 k1 and ufc and pride stuff.
  12. Ha yeah kids are pretty tough. i remember when my ex's lil boy whos 2 and a half axed kicked me in my eye when i was lying on the floor, that really hurt and he could pack a punch too. as far as forcing children to do martial arts which someone in this thread mentioned i personally think its a good idea and i will be doing the same to my children even if they don't like it. its the same with school you get some children who love it and some who hate it but as adults we know better so we make it the law that all children have to go to school. its not the law to send children to MA but its a damn good idea. as well as keeping them fit they lean how to defend themselves and they learn disipline(which i know needs to be started at home) and to control their anger so if someone starts a fight or calls them names they can learn to ignore it and will the battle with out it becoming physical. though saying that it will not always happen as they are children but you are setting the foundation for that kind of thought. also if they stick at it they will be more likely to no do drugs and get influinced by the wrong people when they are teenages if MA has become such a big part of their life. i know my mum got me in to MA to stop me from smoking drugs getting arrested and hanging about with the wrong peole and it has worked i have transformed in the last 2 years. so children in MA is a great thing even if they like it or not. edit sorry for all the bad spelling but im to lazy to change it.
  13. i like to listen to any rocky tune corney i know but those films always motivate me. breath, firestarter and smack my B itch up by prodigy. i also like to listen to jedi mind tricks vinnie paz has such an angry voice and stoups hype beats get my pumped.
  14. i do body weight exercises before i lift weights at home. try doing 5 mins of burpees im sure that will be alot harder then 5 mins on the rowing machine;) as far as benching with out a spotter i wouldnt risk pressing really heavy weights its just not worth it. when i bench at home and tehre is no1 2 spot me i still use heavy weights something that i no i can get 5 reps use of and do my sets with that weight.
  15. he shouldnt disrespect his opponents every fighter has to start somewhere so he should be helping and encouraging people who arn't as good as him, he sounds like a prick. what i tend to do if i am fighting some one who is better with their hands they i am is to keep them out of range with my jab and my kicks so they can't hurt me with them. i do the same tactic if i am against a kicker i will box and stay out of range of there kicks by sticking to the person like glue.
  16. my class is very small with about 5 students in. when we have a new student as we did on thursday they do the warm up with us as best they can then they do the shaddow boxing and when it comes to the techniques they do very basic stuff while we do the advanced stuff. when it comes to sparing they just practice combos with their partner lightly.
  17. or Kingston, London;)
  18. i love to use fakes. if i throw a round house kick for example and they block then i might throw another one straight after, then ill wait a sec then lift my knee and if they fall for it they will start moving to block for the 3rd, but insted i switch it to a side kick and fully extend for the hit.
  19. yesterday in the gym we were all made to do 180 and i was the last person by far to finish them. not because i kept stopping which i didn't do once but because i tend to to them slow. but wouldnt the people who were doing it fast and kept stopping get more of a work out as they reached MMF and i didn't?
  20. ^why? the only thing i can think of is that you much get hit in your jaw when yawning.
  21. we are getting to the place at 9 30 to make sure we all get a fight, and fights dont start for another 2 hrs, so thats when ill get my practice on the mats. its not points fighting so they wont stop us when someone gets hit. yeah i usually throw a combo of punches rather the singles as thats what we are always taught to do in boxing and kickboxing. Thanks:)
  22. ^ yeah thats correct its a crazy kick
  23. If you are paired up with someone who is alot more skilled than you there is not much you can do. I would suggest that you just stick to your gameplan and try to make it work in the situation. It is very important not to let them control the fight, if you put them on the back foot early they may be a bit more hesitant in their future attacks. It might sound weird but i actually like to fight on the back foot and i often do and counter. but i get what your saying about putting them on their back foot and thats my game plan for the fight.
  24. gordo looks like you didnt read all of the thread before making this one because i said my fave MA film was Iron Fisted Monk. easten condors by the way isnt a MA film its army film with a lil MA in it.
