  1. they wouldnt say it was agaisnt the rules.... personalyl i woulnt want to get kicked inteh chin.... do you mean shin???? asin your leg? or CHIN as in the point of your head under your mouth?
  2. i think they're jus talking generally.... rather than example. but i still agree, overall i would give the advantage to the taller guy.... but it wouldnt be a definite decision
  3. all arts can be bad.... and all can be good... just a matter of how you apply yourself and how you train.
  4. thanks y2_sub.... i fight any one that talks to me.... hehe.... just joking.... kids just need to learn to not respond to it that much, dont just be silent as that tends to make things worse.... just keep calm.
  5. yeah that would defintiely add a lot!
  6. yeah u slip up, and u can easily loose a lot more than you balance.....
  7. like all "ancient" history - theres a lot of conflicting opinion, andthen not a huge amount of substantiative evidence..... there a couple of things you can say, but very little that is sepcific.
  8. not what u train but how u train.... exactly what i say if you think you cant train in a technique - tehn dont assume to use it.... use techniques you can practice and will work in a SD situation.... leave as little as possible down to chace.
  9. i think people who see the romanticised idea of what a warrior is, are only imposing on themselves an aim to better themselves.... so irrelevant of what a warrior is defined to be.... tehy choose a certain aim, and feel that is the word that best describes it. Hope that made some sense...
  10. thanks.... that particular post of mine seems to be something i keep repeating.... not what you train in but how you train....
  11. i wouldnt even ask are you sure.... id just back down from the challenge.... just submit, i take no pride in proving to other people irrelevent of who challenges who.
  12. yeah but ur arms will be conditioned now!!! hehe, they're great exercises but i know what u mean about them hurting... takes ages to get used to it, then you keep coming across people doing it even harder and having to get used to that.
  13. lol aggressive sailing.....
  14. exactly - the time it takes for him to get up, and most likely the state they'll be in wont help him chasing after you....
  15. i thought it was a good read. but really didnt change my view on martial arts... still a fantastic book all the same.
  16. i geuss thats the point - we just have to be careful not to cause too much damage..... as we are more able to inflict it. I can however suggest why tehre is no law regarding "black belts" - what about people who use beltless training systems..... a lot of more MMA people may not use belts.... and personalyl i think they're far more than capable of inflicting a huge amount of damage..... i dont think they could write a law because how would you define a self defense expert with so many different grading systems around the world.
  17. i will shortly be adding "begginer in brazilian jui jitsu" to my list; im starting when i move to london
  18. youactually missed my point with two quotes though.... i was just saying its possible to train for those techniques... using the excuse "their too deadly" is wrong.... all technqiues are trainable - split them down, ive made posts on this before so im not going to go into great detail. and i didnt say the knifehand was viable - all im saying is a knifehand to the throat will be effective - i personally woudlnt use it. The move it self if landed is effective..... i didnt say much about getting it to land, i was just disagreeing with people who say "you;ve not used it how do you know the move would work" - the move would.... whether you have the skill to apply it successfully and hit a target moving and attacking oyu is another matter. Like i told you, we were in agreement...... i think its pointless using moves if you're not going to practice them - but then again i think almost all moves are practicable; i think that its possible to know whether a certain strike will work without practicing it - whether you personally coudl get it to work in a tight situation is another matter.....
  19. yes however cops have a different criteria adn are bound by certain rules - they're not trying to kill you.....
  20. yeah sometimes there are obviously going to be injuries that you can use the invincibility phenomenom on..... but its weird seeing how easily some people get injured
  21. i agree that it really shouldnt make a difference.... i get beaten relatively evenly boys and girls.... sparred against the womens world champion a couple of months back and got completely taken apart..... but was one of the best sparring experiences ive had.... I think its more important to see them as an opponent rather than gender.
  22. depends if you mean actual weapons then no.....they might hurt themselver or someone else.
  23. yeah it does get heated sometimes, but the admins are good and generally everyones pretty civil anyways.... in reply to shotokanwarrior - sparring also improves other aspects and gives you experience that you dont get elsewhere in training enough - like taking a blow, and taking an unexpected blow..... depends on how you spar as to what u gain from it.
  24. well enjoy KF and welcome!
