Hello, was wondering if anyone knows wher I can get a quality pair of tekko? I know Shureido makes a set, but I am loking for the "horseshoe" shape not the "brass knuckle" version. Thanks!!

This is the longest kata I know also...Have also gone thru Nipaipo....that kata is crazy...all ove the place and all angles. Okinawan whate crane kempo versions. quote="johnnymac"] Kunimura no Hakutsuru is the longest kata I know. It's over 250 step and takes about 3 minutes. John

My dojo also operates on a 10kyu grading system, but we only use four color belts, tape is placed on the solid belts until promotion to next color. White belt: 10-6th kyu Green belt: 6th-4th kyu Brown belt: 3rd-1st kyu Then black belt.

If you really do not remeber the style you studied, you can pretty much call it a clean slate....Find a good dojo and begin a style that you like. Most (not all of course) styles have similar kihon---punches,kicks,blocks and other strikes. You will be learning them in a new way from a new sensei that's all. Good luck and hope you find what you're looking for

Congrta to you and your son.....Keep up the hard work

We only have white, green, brown and black belts...I tested for my brown belk 15 months ago and am still training 4x a week. I figure I will test for shodan before or just after Thanksgiving.....maybe.... -

It was amazing, it was in Va. and Kimo sensei was giving us outstanding history and techniques...the star of the seminar was Motobu Chosei sensei, son of the famous Motobu Choki.....I am truly lucky that I was able to attend....if you go to motobu2005.com you will be able to buy the dvd of the seminar in a few weeks. (when they are done editing) Hope this helps.

Suggestions for equipment in a tradditional dojo
strangepair03 replied to Bleeding Lion's topic in Equipment and Gear
Makiwara is most important...A dojo without a makiwara is a dance studio. -
I have a 2x4 that is 7' long, tapered to 1/4" at the top, sunk 3 feet into the ground....topped with a shureido leather cover. I have it mounted outside in my yard and I keep a large empty coffee can outside, which I place over the top when I am done using it. Keeps the leather from getting soaked and rotting. In my garage I have a removeable wall mount makiwara from shureido....Pricey but you can't beat it (haha) https://www.shureidousa.com Good luck!!!

I love my makiwara....train on it 4-5 times a week.....The ultimate in stress relief!!!!

Suggestions for equipment in a tradditional dojo
strangepair03 replied to Bleeding Lion's topic in Equipment and Gear
Forget the gloves, headgear, and pads.....gotta have a makiwara, heavybags, chiish, nigiri game, etc; For cheap heavybags, buy army suplus duffle bags, fill with sand and their you go......The most important thing is good instruction....Good Luck -
Hello,hello...welcome to the forum, jump in...the water is fine!!!!
