I agree with you 100%. Like everything else, you need an instructor to show you how do preform the kata correctly, not a DVD or VHS sensei.

Training in "Street Clothes"
strangepair03 replied to NinTai's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Is that pain on your gun side or both? It could just be your myscles compensating for the extra weight. I know my belt weighed in at around 20 lbs. Also do you wear your belt low around the hips or up around the waist? The pain is on both sides.....the belt has a lot of junk on it, but i don't think it is the weight. I wear it up on my waist.....makes it easier for me to move around during a shift. -

When you kick, after some time you don't get a pain in your hip area....not pain from the belt or anything, more of a muscle kind of pain??? I get it everytime I train wearing the zoot suit. -
If you don't mind me asking, who do you/sensei follow?

strangepair03 replied to masterintraining's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Hey bushidoman, kimbo was a convict . I have readen he gained skills in prison fights . So , you may meet some guy like him at work That may be. That is why we are issued pepper spray and tasers. I am a Officer here in New Jersey and I wish we could have Tasers here. Do they really work as good as they say?? -

I wear the same, I was shocked at the pain I got in my hip from kicking with my duty belt on after about 25 min. of training. Also the rash from those crappy polyester uniform pants. I have a question for you, did you have any leg hair ripped out from the stripe on the pants (if you have stripped pants)? That was a new experience for me -

I like my living room.....But I will practise anywhere given the chance!!!!! -
No chance of you finding a kobudo sensei in your area???? With all weapons and empty hand for that matter, there are so many little things that really need to be shown first hand. Good Luck

I use 5 lbs. ankle weights and go thru all my Kihon and Kata at about half speed and light on the power. Just enough to "feel the burn".
