  1. I saw those myself after posting. I was awaiting my embarrasement! Thanks.
  2. Welcome to these forums KENSHI! Hope you have a great time here.
  3. Just out of curiosity for next time - what time zone are you talking in here? CET?
  4. Student again here, but I would like a job along the lines of sports physiotherapist, or fitness instructor. Something involving what I love!
  5. I would like to look at joining and Wing Chun and maybe a Jiu Jutsu school, after obtaining black belt in Taekwondo. KickChick - I'll make you a gym to see that!
  6. http://www.turtlepress.com/ffba.html
  7. Great 360, thats what I ment with the light physical exercise.
  8. My best weeks trainin would have to be this week's, which Im finishing off tonight with a TKD lesson. I've trained Mon, Tue, Wed, and today for hours in a huge field in the sun. Very tough but very rewarding
  9. Also, spinning kicks with a runny nose = not a funny afair.
  10. I think these people you hear are not saying that MA shouldn't be used as violence, but that MA shouldn't be used to provoke or start violence, but only be used in protection.
  11. Heh, I was lumbered with flu for 2 weeks not long ago... as a result of trying to weightlift with a dry cough. Some gentle exercise may be ok, and light stretching once or twice a day is important, but personally I wouldn't recomend strenuous exercise - your body is trying to heal from an illness, don't lumber it with more hardships! Use this time for other aspects, like meditation, light stretching, balance (standing on one leg, both on balls of feet, eyes closed, slow kicks, etc.) hand/eye coordination (throwing pingpong ball against the wall and trying to catch it) and rest plenty. If you feel creative, do some art or writing... there are plenty of things to do that can benefit you whilst ill. Take a step back from the physical side of MAs and work on the mental.
  12. hmmm. Try warming up beforehand with either some form of cardio activit such as running or biking, or have a shower, then try stretching very lightly, breathing slowly and deeply. Stretch lightly so you can keep your muscles relaxed, and increase the stretch slowly. I'm no expert on this, perhaps someone else may be able to help more. And feel free to make an Introduction post in the introductions section! [ This Message was edited by: Jack on 2002-03-28 13:18 ]
  13. In a real life situation, use whatever works. There are no rules on the street. Kicking guys in the privates is another perfectly acceptable technique in needed.
  14. As much as I dislike to admit it, I probably would have done the same as you Ad. You pushed him, but if someone said that to my girl (before we broke up, heh) I most likely wouldn't have been able to help myself from doing the same. He did hit first though, so after that you were techincally fighting for defence of yourself and girlfriend. But man, you seem to be getting in too many fights recently. You don't want to be getting a high profile. Be careful.
  15. Excuse me G, I was not attempting to start an argument. I was merely trying to ask ramcalgary not to be disrespectful to other members here. If you have a problem with this or with me, please Private message me your complaint. Thanks.
  16. Welcome Jahred - you remind me of what I was going through about 14 months ago,
  17. Bretty I know. Yesterday I did Spinning hook kicks all the way down the football pitch. Today I did a variety all the way around the outside twice. I can already feel my kicking skill improving dramatically, between the tightness, fiery tensations, and aches.
  18. Went training with my Ju Jitsu friend today, and with this video clip in mind I asked him to try and take me to the ground, to charge at me, or simply to kick and punch me. Was great fun employing some of what I saw to get inside his guard, pummel him with punches them quickly sweep or throw him to the floor andp pummle him some more! (With semi-contact padded mitts, of course. ) Some very interesting concepts in Wing Chun which can be quite easily incorporated into other styles. Not the moves themselves, but a lot of the theory and concepts, like controlling the centreline.
  19. I can honestly say here, that I do understand what you mean. I had a similar moment on New Year's Day. Me, my friend, and his family drove down to the beach and it was almost deserted. I went off for a walk alone and I think I had one of those 'wow' moments just walking next to the waves on soft sand, no-one around. Damnit, I really yearn to be back there. Meditation is not selfish however, and you don't have to concentrate on the navel - that is only for chi meditation. The idea of meditation is being able to slow down the constant flood of messages entering and leaving your mind until you can concentrate on one thing for as long as you wish, and eventually concentrate on nothing. Surely meditation makes an inpact on your personality, which can make you more helpful and kind an individual. Heck, I've just been doing this meditation for two weeks and yesterday I instantly offered to hoover the house for my mum? And I felt happy in doing it? I don't know, but I think its already making subtle differences.
  20. ramcalgary, please refrain from such hositlity. Thank you.
  21. I guess how I express my love for the MAs is through practicing it constantly, and if I'm not practicing it, I'm meditating, or light stretching, or on here. Heck sometimes I go visit other schools if I have nothing to do and sit and watch a lesson for free. I try to be humble about my training, yet still determined, and I allow the MAs to shape parts of my life. I've been recommended a book entitled "Living the martial way" by F.E. Morgan. Apparently its a very profound book that should shape your approach to life and training.
  22. calgary we did that once, but with high round kicks, down a very long hall. Great tortu..exercise for the legs.
  23. Makes me to want to start Wing Chun. I am pretty impressed, as long as those weren't choreographed and the attackers didn't attack slowly or go easy on him.
  24. Very true. Also - nothing like the sound of a hall of student's doing punches at the same time - that lovely gi snapping noise.
  25. Hey all. While training today in this huge school field, I caught eye of a full size football pitch. So I ran over to one side of it, and proceeds to come down one length of it with kick combinations, not stopping, not thinking, just doing whatever kicks came naturally to me. It was great fun to do, and was some decent skill and endurance work to do as well. I recommend it to anyone with enough room. I'm planning on going all the way around it twice tomorrow, Hope you have the time and space to try it out, and I hope you enjoy it.
