Well... Yesterday I broke my friend's punchbag with a roundhouse kick, the bag came falling off the bracket... then the bracket came torn out of the wall and also fell. And now I just roundhoused my own and did the exact same! Hmmm, I'm getting quite proud of my Roundhouse kick.

Yes, I've tried this before. A real killer

Hmm, I'm not going to set you out a routine but here are some good ideas to help with best fat loss, trying to retain muscle at the same time: Lower Caloric Intake - Obvious. Frequent snacks - Metabolism boost Coffee/Coke - Metabolism boost again! Plenty of Water - Counters the dehydrating effects of Coffee Plenty of Cardio - Try before breakfast and before you go to bed. Do more if you want. Plenty of Protein - Got to keep muscle! No eating after 6pm, unless perhaps a protein shake. If you want to lose weight, you will lose muscle, but by following these guidelines you will help to minimize muscle lost while still losing plenty of weight. There are other ways involving an E/C/A stack, but its rather expensive and can have some side affects (the shakes etc.) Good luck, and feel free to make your future posts concerning this in the "Weight loss club" thread of this section

I must say I don't really plan or set a number of techniques. I just go into the bag and think up a combination quickly before executing it a couple of times. I tend to just go with the flow and mix up techniques, it helps me find what works for me pretty well. Well, gotta go, bagwork calls!

Well, I'm not sure, apparently Tabata was tried and tried again until it was the best kind of interval training possible, but theres always different results for different people. Try alternating every workout, or every month. It will keep the body adapting more if you add variation, so use both of them and switch between the two when you reach a plateau. Good luck with training, and yes, its a real killer!

I'm with both of you on this one.

This girl would probably laugh and be happy that her guy is so attractive. I am with Patrick and KickChick on this. Also Prodigy-Child, I don't put on a charming face just for a girl I like, I am just me, which thankfully most of the time is "charming", hehe. You'll do better if you just act yourself, you'll relax more and make better conversation. I'm sure you'll be just fine either way. Chivalry, it all boils down to the charming little things, like opening doors, not laughing at another's misfortune, going out of your way to help others, offering your chair, etc. etc. But you don't just have to do this for women, its just good manners to do this for everybody. When anyone insulted my ex, I'd always be the first to have words with them, and that was it, just have words. Often though she wouldn't even want me talking to them, in which case I would respect what she desired and not have a go at them. If anyone had layed a hand on her though I would have used whatever force necessary to rid of them. Basically, have a little respect, don't treat your girl as if she's a defenceless baby but do stand up for her if you so wish. But don't go starting fights for her, thats brutal and thuggish. Be the better man and deal with things calmly, and she'll admire you for it.

Bitseach, thank you for this post but this was recently discussed in the General MA area, please look at: http://www.karateforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=2281&forum=2&11 Also, this is really not a post for the Weapons section, so I shall be closing this. Thank you for your time.

Well, my warmup is normally as follows: Joint Rotations (neck, shoulders, arms, forearms, trunk, legs, ankles, legraises(dynamic stretching!) ) Light Cardio for a few minutes until sweating. Passive stretching to attain full flexibility. Then a bit more light cardio!

I can't say I've read any of those, but one of those books that is a must have for any martial artist, is called "Living the Martial Way" by F.E.Morgan. It details how to set your goals, and how to train and develop yourself mentally through rigorous training. A very interesting and informative read.

People - we can't tell him what to do. Its up to him to think about and decide. -
Dynamic flexiblity, and passive flexibility - You will find plenty of posts on this if you use the Search function at the top of the page! Also you need to work on muscle control - try holding your leg in front kick position as high as possible for as long as possible until your leg gives up. Then try side and back, both legs. Then try again until failiure again!

Ad, Its just in that period of stretching your heart rate is dropping and is a little like cooling down before you're even finished with the workout. If you include stretching in the warmup, then thats what you'll need for the bagwork, no need to stretch yet again unless you really must. I just think it would be more effective to put Bagwork between the sets, and then stretch at the end, would be more practical.

AO, you are a very fortunate man. I've yet to find a woman that fully understands and supports my need to train so much. Mind you, I'm still 15 so time will tell. And you're very right about what you've put in your post, I would agree with everything there. Blood talon - I dont think we can tell you either way about Angelo or your girlfriend, but I suggest you ask yourself what both of these people mean to you, it will help you decide your actions. -

Blood Talon, this is quite the situation you are in. You can try to calmly explain this to your girlfriend, you may have luck. As for this Angelo... personally I'd recomend you think long and hard about how much this friendship means to you, and if you can really take further risk to other parts of your life because of it. And he needs to sort himself out, he cannot go around being offencive and beating people up. Thats not what the Martial Arts are there for. -

Hey Ad, I wouldn't recomend stretching in the middle of a workout, I'd save that for the warmup and cooldown. If you really want to keep your heart rate up, stick to the bagwork between sets of pushups. Also, instead of a solid minute, there is something here you may wish to try called Tabata training. Check out these pages... http://www.karateforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=2061&forum=19&16 http://www.cbass.com/interval.htm If you tried this with pushups - that would be really very intense and in my estimation, very benificial. Each interval you could do a different style of pushup. So, your routine may look something more like... Warmup Pushups in Tabata style Crunches in Tabata style Bag Work Stretching Anyway, read those webpages and let me know what you think.

Good read SaiFightsMS, but a large part of the end appears to be from Sun Tzu's text the art of war.
