Enough of the diffs between the military. We need to stay on topic here. -
Ninjutsu vs. Jujutsu
ZR440 replied to BlackRose's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
I don't think those war games in Canada have much of the US Army Special Forces participating. I have a friend in the Coast Gaurd participate in it, but my other friend in the Army SF has never been to it. -
Some kids were busted by local police where I live this past week with airsoft guns. They were playing around in a mall parking lot and someone reported a handgun being brandished, so the cops arrived and treated it like as if it was a real handgun. They are legal here, but you can't play around with them like a toy in public.

Once again, I stand corrected. -

The BJJ vs whatever is getting tiring. No martial art will prevent a thug from sticking you in the back with a 4" blade, so therefore it's not invincible. Keep on topic by discussing the differences and similarities between the two arts, OK? -
415 boards in one minute? He must have broke 10-20 per strike. But how clean a break were they?

rockingham speedway.(GB) V rockingham speedway(USA) ?
ZR440 replied to slaine's topic in General Chat
The Rockingham in the USA is a short 1 mile oval track. Car crashes are plentiful due to it's size. Never been there. Just seen it on TV. -
Villari infomercial " who needs an instructor"

It would end up like the Buns of Steel video that's sits on the back shelf of an entertainment center. -
I still can't figure out if I like single malts or not.

I don't think I will be either. Three years of Korean arts and never touched a weapon. Fourth week of my new class and I've been taught the basic striking angles. Nice.
-
Ahh. I just started using sticks last week.

Just remember, on ki bohn soo techs 1-4 they alternate sides. The second one goes to the left, behind the opponent, right? Well, so will the fourth. Both hands around the wrist of the opponent, big circle down and then up over your head, placing thier wrist down to the floor. And yes, everyone forgets. Nobody should be ashamed of that. As KSN would say "You need more practice!"

KSW has very high quality control requirements. It is structured in a way that all students learning at any given level is the same anywhere in the world, theoretically. It is not something you will be able to use to beat up somebody after only taking a few months of class. That's not the intent of the system, nor will your instuctor tolerate it. Take advantage of the offer for free instruction. You will learn a lot, but it doesn't happen overnight either. Read KSN Doug's article on KSW on this site

Ditto.

Motrin and ice. If everything still works you probably don't need to see a doctor, but if the pain lingers on have it checked out.

American Taekwondo Association

Yes, marketing success is correct. The ATA is probably the most popular MA where I'm at. They advertise quite a bit and have public demos whenever possible. It's very popular with the kids. -
Just like the Lions.

Bdaze, What the name of the Philippino art your friend is taking?

You better take it easy on that ankle for a while. Ligaments take time to heal. I know. I inverted my ankle before Easter and am still limited in what I can do.

If someone were to break into your house.........
ZR440 replied to wrestlingkaratechamp's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
Exactly. Shoot first and ask questions later. Sounds barbaric, but it's nothing more than survival. -

If they have intent on doing harm, you best make sure they don't leave your house alive. Keeps them from suing you later when they've healed up. -
Yeah, Baltimore Inner Harbor is pretty darn nice. I visit there every two years. It's a great place to spend a day. Love the ESPN SportsZone pub! Annapolis, MD has some great food too!
