  1. My job isn't exactly what I really want to do in life, but in this day where the job market is tight I can't complain too much. Of course, the ideal job would be to sit back and watch the money roll in, but how often does that happen? If you want to change your career, get more educated (certifications or higher degree) and/or look for some other company. You will never have the oppurtunity to advance or change without taking risks, right?
  2. You're screwed. There is no such thing as eating healthy on the road if your meals are paid for by your company, especially if you sit down for an hour. Who orders a salad when they can eat steak and shrimp?
  3. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned proper breathing technique yet. From the belly...not the shoulders. Anyone care to expand on this? Grandmasterchen? KSN Doug?
  4. Hey Mr Hogan, are you on the steroids again? Just wondering.
  5. Sitting down and moving your lower leg from the floor straight up, but not locking your knee joint. Start out with light ankle weights, say 2.5 to 5 lbs per leg, and do three or four sets of 10 or 15 reps. Don't forget to do the curls (standing up) also.
  6. Lower leg curls and extensions with ankle weights. That's what my specialist told me. It worked well.
  7. I have experiments growing in my fridge. Need to clean it out some day soon.
  8. I heard Lewis wasn't looking very fit. Would like to see a rematch. It'll only be a matter of time for Jones Jr.
  9. Unfortunately, there won't be a next time. My instructor is no longer instructing. Class size must not have been big enough.
  10. Then choose your words wisely. Combat is not the same as self defense.
  11. It made more sense with increased coffee consumption. And also holding a straight edge up to my monitor.
  12. If you want to learn some moves or techniques for combat, join the military. If you want to learn how to better yourself as a person traditional martial arts are a great way to do it. But that's your choice.
  13. What I meant to say is that the only possible explanation for losing or gaining area in this example would be for one or both of the hypotenuse being concave or convex, because if you match a grid square against another corresponding grid square, they look different. It's some kind of illusion.
  14. Argh, that's the nemesis city of a Red Wing fan.
  15. If I remember correctly they have an interlocking dovetail joint to connect them, similar to what desk drawers have at the corners, only these boards have that locking joint in the center. You just hit it like any other object and it pops apart. I hit one with a Yuk Soo Do earlier this year and almost broke my knuckle because I didn't hit the center. Wasn't the boards fault, I just need more practice!
  16. By rearranging the individual sections, it slightly changes the overall shape, but the combined area remains the same.
  17. It didn't go anywhere. The area is the same for both.
  18. Just boards in KSW (didn't you teach that at one time?). Prepare with a KiCho Chagi and bust one as per required for the test. Sometimes we will use a rebreakable plastic board during a class, but no bricks. And no, this probably could have been posted in the Internal Arts or Comparative Styles, but that's OK. Somebody might move it later.
  19. The article just shows the truth will never be known. But I won't lose any sleep over it either.
  20. Blossoms? That's kinda late compared to here. We have the National Cherry Festival starting on July 4th, but there isn't any martial arts demos.
  21. First time I've ever seen that that one. Pretty informative. I wonder if Master Harmon has a website.
  22. Which is why I said officers are trained to read situations and respond appropriately.
  23. Yea, my aunt said it's been raining in Follansbee/Weirton area for the past month or so.
  24. Where is everyone? Jeez, you can barely drive anywhere in my area during late afternoon.
  25. We have a kid younger than that in our class and he's pretty good. His techniques aren't quite as sharp as they should be considering he's fairly advanced, but by no means does he distract or hinder the learning process for the rest of the class. I don't mind at all.
