Don't tempt me.

Is that accumulative since you started or within the first month or so of your first class? I could add to my list, but I'm busy looking for my Motrin.

Never underestimate the little guys, eh? -
Is that like a weekly version of the movie Office Space?

Those dozen or so Ki exercises made me too relaxed when I was in KSW. The only time I felt it helped me was to focus before a board break. There are no formal breathing techniques in my new style except before our forms, which are a lot shorter in duration compared to KSW.

In conjunction with other arts it's great to know because you also learn the disarm techniques. At least I do. The angles of attack can apply to knives and other weapons too.

Not being able to take a MA now

Exactly. -
I looked at the video. I can pick out similarities with my style. I also agree with Jerry. We tend to crash in to control the weapon and then slice, dice and julian (whatever that is). But every style is a little different. No big deal.

Didn't know KSW was that popular in that area. Try to go to a Master's Demo if you ever get the chance.

Congrats on the nice piece of yellow on your belt. Everyone has their ups and downs while training, but you learn to work through it. Who's your instructor?
-
Why not have your instructor show you? Is he/she out of ideas?

I'm already tired of eating salads this year.

And hope it isn't your wife sleepwalking. -
After reading your nicely worded article it reminded me of what I did last Friday in the sports bar I frequently visit. You stated you try to cool tempers as they arise. Well, there were a few beerhounds exchanging barbs right next to me and I explained to them that their petty trashtalking was meaningless and to go to jail for fighting in a bar would not be a good way of starting out a weekend. The one guy kept asking me if I was a police officer. No, but I was convincing enough to change his mind about starting a brawl. Perhaps it was my own laziness for not wanting to get off my barstool to throw someone in a hold long enough for the bouncers to take out the trash, or maybe it was the conduct expected of a martial artist that inspired me to do it.

If you and your instructor feel that you're ready to test, and then you have a bad day or night, does one deserve to be promoted?
-
Think of it this way, you were paid to watch a movie.
-
I've failed a few tests. Did it bother me, sure. Did I become more proficient in the material the second time around, yes. More so than those who passed it the first time. In testing for BB in KSW, you automatically fail your first test. It's a test within a test.

I'm surprised they allow you to even have a shotgun in that state. They're a little overboard with the rules and regulations there. -
Never bothered to keep track of it. As for the effects, anything more than one or two a day will make your liver angry later in life. But that's up to you.

Find a wood shop or furniture builder that knows how to steam wood.

Learning MA is better than laying on the sofa all day long eating Cheetos. (football Sunday's are the exception) -
Hey Wolverine, I had 10-12" of snow sitting in my driveway this morning. Do you want me to ship you some down there?

Your stories of hard work and dedication are an inspiration to us all. Bestill your spitefull heart, for my Christmas wish of that nectar of the gods will be passing by my parched lips in a few short weeks courtesy of a dear old friend. A good friend indeed. Merry Christmas.
