Ya think the Hollywood movie industry might have anything to do with that perception of us?
-
I just hope brandishing it will be enough to scare them off. But if need be the hollow points will be released. Leave the scene after shooting someone? Not a good idea. Especially if it was justifiable defense. You will be arrested in order for the police to sort out who's at fault, but as long as you keep your mouth shut until your lawyer is present there shouldn't be any problem explaining what happened. Dead men tell no tales.

Yeah, running is the best and least painful. How to tell if the guy is good? I guess you have to consider everyone good if they carry a blade. And if you're in the fight it's already too late.
-
My system (Maharlika Kuntaw) generally works it's way in close (hubud). If unarmed, a block is followed up with a grappling type lock, and if possible, redirecting the blade into the attacker. If armed with a blade, it can combine redirection of the attack with multiple slashes, or just go in and start carving them up. I don't have the skill to take on an experienced knife attacker, so I'll just run.

Non white uniforms
ZR440 replied to MichiganTKD's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
My uniform has meaning, but do I really care? No, not as much as the uniforms that my friends or my father wore during combat operations for this country. No more barbaric sniping, or else this thread will be shut down. -
Wish me luck!...Testing this weekend.

May the force be with you. -
He'll want to use a brick on himself when he starts trying to figure out women. I've used so many that I've joined the National Bricklayers Union just to get discounts at the lumber yard.
-
He also has to apply for reinstatement before next season.

There have been many debates here about the effectiveness of TKD on the streets. In order not to keep repeating the same topic I will ask that you just perform a search on the subject. As far as proper technique for breaking boards? Ask people who've been there for a while for some tips. You'll get better with practice. And forget the idea of deadening nerves in your foot. Nerves are there for a reason and not worth killing off just to break a stupid board.

My instructor recently had a back injury which may require surgery also.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Yanni rules!

Seen them a few years ago and hopefully again on 4/24.

I don't see a hard rock/metal category. I've been on a huge Tool/A Perfect Circle kick recently. The Outsider track rocks!

Did Marlin Simms have anything to do with that variation of sparring?

You've been hit enough times that it doesn't surprise you anymore. You ever say to yourself "man, this is going to hurt" before it ever happens? You've conditioned yourself to pain in a way. Hit in the head with a hockey stick? Are you playing against Marty McSorley? hahahaha

If physical therapy hasn't worked get that thing tuned up. Soon. Consult a sports orthopedic physician. They see people like you every day.

Sun Hang Do-The New Martial Art

Thanks, Tom. I've read enough off topic discussion from both of you. You'll have to agree to disagree today or else this topic will be locked. -

I believe Dan Inosato (sp?) helped Bruce Lee with the stick fighting aspect of JKD. -

Yes, it's nice to see that it's been respectful. -
Yup, palm strike. Then you might attempt the double next time. It won't hurt if you use proper technique.

I thought the ghost of Vlad the Impaler got ya.

I can tell you're not on the Atkins diet.

You might even talk to friends and clients to see if they know of anything worth checking into. Pick their brain. But don't give up your current job until you find something else. A potential employer would rather like to read a resume that shows you are still employed instead of one that reads that you quit because you didn't like it or you weren't being paid enough. Yes, that's the reason why you are looking elsewhere right now, but that's called bettering yourself/career, not being a quitter.

Effect of sports and culture on fights.

Same here.
