  1. what about youre basement? or a tree maybe in the backyard.
  2. so what do you look for in your new art? a grappling art would indeed round things up. do you plan to go on with shotokan? since you do a striking art now, judo probably is a good choice. Jiu Jitsu or BJJ might fit the purpose as well.
  3. sounds interesting to me. keep it going and good luck!!!
  4. ITF and WTF probably cover most of the dojangs you will encounter and have been discussed and discribed in this forum very often. this page gives information about these two: https://www.barrel.net if it leaves any questions unanswered post in this forum again. good luck!
  5. 2 times dojo and here and there at home.
  6. thanks for the answers Korean Street Fighting caught my interest. the street application version i mean. how can these brutal techniques been practiced? in Kung Fu San Soo, the most brutal art i know, u practice very catious and seldom with full power/speed. its hard to tell whether these are appropriate methods... could tell me/us more about Kyuk Too Ki please?
  7. since i dont have any expieriences with kung fu, i might be wrong, but here it goes anyway: in Kung Fu San Soo, the goal is to end a fight after 5 or less, by any means. its brutalness and variety off techniques make it very effective once mastered. i like Praying Mantis Kung Fu very much; sadly i am not able to train it. the seven star system combines every aspect a really good and effective martial art must have, at least for me just my opinion, and since i dont know many of the 500+ kung fu styles, its probably not even a very qualified one.
  8. https://www.allthetests.com one of my favourites... loads of tests sorted by category. perfect to kill some boredom!
  9. in class we do listen to somewhat "chill out" moods, or something relaxing. its good for stretching and work on kata i think. at home i listen to relaxing music while doing kata / stretching as well, but listen to Marilyn Manson, 311, Rocky Theme and stuff while doing kicking/punching or body exercises.
  10. Danny's dad brought him to his first Judo competition. Noting that the organizers seemed a little shorthanded he approached the table. "Hello," he said to the Director, "you look a little shorthanded. Anything I can do to help?" "Well it just so happens we're short a fighter for the under 90 kg division," the director replied. "Sorry," Danny's dad said, "I don't know a thing about Judo." "That's OK" said the director. "We need referees, too." (no offense meant with this joke )
  11. maybe i am indeed badly out of shape. i am running on asphalt and stoned sideways. so do i have to run more often or fewer my first thought was being outa shape as well, but what kept me from running wasnt my breath or something.... i could've run more, but my legs hurt too much. sadly i do not know what u mean with springy tracks @ karateka and what is an elliptical machine? sry - english aint my first language
  12. oh and one more thing about the links: keep it clean please
  13. hey everybody - i didnt really knew where to put this, so here it goes: we all post a link to a cool site in this thread, a site to hang out when we are bored, that is funny, interesting or cool by any other means. i will begin: https://www.tekzoned.com a site with many games and cool stuff
  14. from time to time i go out and run a mile or two. nothing too serious, because i am only at the beginning of conditioning by running. but already after half a mile i got a pain in my legs. at the front side of my low leg, to be precise. i thought it'd go away when i run more often, but it goes on. i dont want to visit a doctor yet and i dont think its the shoes i wear. any good ideas on what i could do? stop running is not the solution
  15. ah - thanks; i will. if the site, darce mentioned, could be found again...
  16. what exactly are Hindu Squats and Hindu PushUps? i heard about them, but cant really imagine in what way they are different from ordinary pushups/squats. anybody could explain them to me? some pictures might help as well if available. thanks in advance!
  17. how does the sumo stance look? u perhaps got a picture pls?
  18. if u r not fast enough u might get punished by some painful punches for having let ur guard down.
  19. thanks for posting started to feel a littel stupid
  20. there r no belts in MT, but some instructors might test their students and maybe give away belts... yes, i'd like to know this as well
  21. trying to rob a martial arts instructor sure isnt a good idea.
