I have a friend who is a Mets fan who I have not seen all summer, and his wife is a Dodgers fan, so I wonder how things are going in that household! I might have to message him this week and see what is going on.

Lions dominate the Cowboys in a 47-9 horror movie style massacre. They do it in Dallas while Jerry Jones was celebrating his birthday. This is the most lopsided home loss for the Cowboys during the time Jerry Jones has owned the team. If that wasn't bad enough, they are now on the bye and will have to sit on this one for two weeks. It wasn't perfect the Detroit either, though, as Aiden Hutchinson broke his leg during the game. Hutch has been the Lions best defensive player and entered Sunday leading the NFL in sacks. As Bill Parcells once said - if you win or lose on Sunday, something is bad on Monday. Feels good to see the Lions to get this win after so many tough losses down in Arlington over the years, including the controversial ending to the game last season. It has been a long time since I was so excited about a regular season victory! LET'S GO LIONS!

Five teams still with perfect records and they are all in the west. Calgary, Utah, Winnipeg, Vegas, and Dallas are all 3-0-0, still on the chase for the undefeated 82-0-0 season. The Oilers have three games in the bag and not a point to show for it. No need to panic with 79 games left, but another slow start for Edmonton. If you recall they had a bad start last season, fired the coach, then made it to the finals where they were down 3-0 and came back to force a 7th game. Way too soon to count them out even though they are at the bottom of the league right now. Capitals, Avs, and Predators are also pointless, but have played fewer games. Washington is only 0-1 and does not play until Tuesday. Colorado will have a chance to get on the board on Monday when they play the Islanders.

Minnesota takes the loss against the Jets, 2-1, but since it was in overtime they still get a point. Wild have four points in three games, but two losses. Jets are 3-0-0.

I had another post that did not submit, it was on the hockey thread from Saturday, came back on Sunday and it was not posted and when I went to post what I had written was still there, like of like a draft of an email. *shurgs*

Minnesota Wild took their first L of the season, 5-4 against Seattle. Won't be the last. Upset of the night was in Edmonton as the Blackhawks beat the Oilers 5-2.

Minnesota Wild win their season opener! A 3-2 victory at home over the Blue Jackets. I do not have high expectations for the Wild this season, they are likely a borderline playoff team. They missed the playoffs last season and what is probably best-case scenario for this year is making the playoffs but having another first round exit. Other winners on Thursday were Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, LA Kings, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, and the now 2-0-0 Utah Hockey Team, the only franchise in the league that has never lost. Every team has now played at least one game.

I'm so glad hockey is back

Bit of an offensive start to the season! Eight goals for the Vegas Golden Knights in a 8-4 win against Colorado. Rangers, Jets, and Flames all scored 6 goals and got season opening victories. Montreal did not match the scoring, putting up one goal against Toronto, but enough to get the win. All of those teams now only need to win 81 more in a row to have an undefeated regular season!!

Sheesh! The firings start earlier every year it feels like. One head coach down already in 24. I realize New Yorkers have a reputation of being impatient but wow.

Saw on the news today that the Tropicana Casino was blown up overnight to make room for the start of the A's stadium. I stayed at the Tropicana once and visited there a few times, one of the historic casinos. For those who do not know, it is located...or was located...right on Tropicana Ave and Las Vegas Blvd on the south end of the strip. The same day the Tropicana Casino came down, the roof of Tropicana Park in Tampa was ripped off during the hurricane. The roof as basically gone and will be expensive to repair. Bad day for Tropicana!

The Patriots head coach announced this morning that Maye will be starting on Sunday against the Texans.

Two other games on Tuesday...Florida starts their run for a repeat with a victory over the Bruins, and the Utah Hockey Club gets a win in their franchise debut, defeating the Blackhawks 5-2 at the Delta Center.

Nice. Plus it worked out for you, the Blues beat the Kraken 3-2 and remain undefeated.

Vikings win again to improve to 5-0. Lions were off this week; they play in Dallas on Sunday. 49ers off to a slow start at 2-3 after taking another L this afternoon. Jacksonville got in the win collum by overcoming the Colts. Ravens win and appear to have turned it around. Patriots had that big week one victory and have lost every game since. Right now, it is the 3rd quarter of SNF, and the Steelers lead the Cowboys 10-6. Saints and Chiefs play Monday night in the Show Me State. (I learned what the Show Me State was in high school economics, one of the few things I remember from that class.)

There are some benefits to solo training as you can go at your own pace and pick how you want to do things. I like to put on street clothing and try my kicks and blocks and what not, just to see how they would feel in a jacket, or blue jeans, or something that I might be wearing if I were to be attacked. Unlikely I will be in my Gi if attacked in a parking garage.

I found Strangers Chapter 1 to be a complete waste. Just a bad copy of the original.
