There is something extra enjoyable about the black and white in classic horror movies like Psycho, Night of the Living Dead, Frankenstein, ect. Holy jumping Jack-O-Lantern's look at the date! Happy Halloween everyone!

The Dodgers were off their game on Wednesday night, and the Blue Jays took advantage, winning 6-1 and taking a 3-2 series lead back up to Canada. Game six is on Friday.

No update on the investigation yet, however Lamar Jackson is expected to start on Thursday night when the Ravens play the Dolphins. The Dolphins are coming off a big upset win against the Falcons.

Watched a terrible B-movie last night called Cherry Falls. It is a slasher film from 25 years ago where a serial killer is attacking teenagers in a small town. Britany Murphy and Jay Mohr are in it.

Big game for both teams tonight, winner will go up 3-2 and be one win away from the title. Bigger game for LA imo because if they lose, they will have to win the next two on the road. But if they win, they put pressure on the BJs and have the momentum going back to Toronto, where they already split the first two.

Not all artificial is bad. Do you have any experience with breast implants? I couldn't resist.

Sadly, that much like many other good ideas, there will be people who abuse it. It seems like every time technology solves one problem; it also creates another.

Unfortunately the language was a problem, and I stopped reading shortly after starting. Sounds like I needed to give it more time. I am now reading Framed by John Grisham, but I might try Frankenstein at a later time and will let you know my thoughts if I do. Thanks for your interest. Do you read a lot of science fiction?

Crazy game three that went 18 innings and saw the Dodgers win 6-5. It was only the second game in World Series history to go 18 innings. The other being the Dodgers Red Sox in 2018. Ohtani reached base nine times, a WS record. Hard to imagine even getting nine plate appetences in a game, but he reached on all of them. He was 4-4 and had five walks. That would be a good series for many players, he did it in one night. The win could swing momentum strongly in favor of LA, as the pressure is on Toronto to win game 4. Dodgers have a 2-1 series lead. I rarely do this, but I am cheering for Canada. The Blue Jays have not won a WS since 1993 and teams like the Dodgers have such a big advantage because of their payroll. I am not expected the Jays to win, but I hope they do. Anyway, game four is tonight. Let's see what happens with this one.

Watched the classic Night of the Living Dead last night. It had been years since I'd seen it.

The Ravens are being investigated for possibly violating the injury report rules. Jackson was listed as a "full participant" in practice on Friday, but he wasn't. Then on Saturday he was ruled out. Why does this matter? Because it changed the betting lines. The Ravens went from 6.5-point favorites on Friday, to 2.5 after Jackson was ruled out. This coming just two days after the bombshell NBA betting scandal that rocked the sports world. A current NBA player and head coach were both arrested for illegal gambling, and further accusations of players giving inside information about player injuries to bookies, and players faking injuries to rig bets. Goodell should come down hard on the Ravens to send a message that this is not going to be tolerated. John Harbaugh claims that it was an honest mistake, but the league could still punish the team with a fine and a loss of a draft pick. In the eyes of many fans the integrity of sports have been compromised due to the increased interest these leagues have with the gambling world, where the gambling ads seem to get more common every year. The timing on this could not have been worse for the Ravens and this could prove to be a very costly mistake.

When I was in LA last week I saw self driving cars on the street for the first time up close. I didn't ride in one but the few people I talked to who did told me that they are great. I don't know enough about it to have an option, but I have concerns of self driving vehicles being hacked and replacing jobs. There will be no Uber drivers in ten years, it will all be self driving pick up. Same with truck drivers and bus drivers. AI is going to take jobs from people who are already struggling to get by and I have concerns that this will lead to more homelessness, more theft, and more social unrest.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Published in 1818 making it the oldest novel I have ever read. That is a record that has been held since 2012 when I read Mark Twain. Strangely, I don't recall ever reading any Mark Twain in school. Nor did I read Lord of the Flies.

They did. In fact, they got blown out. Broncos beat the Cowboys 44-24. Here is a list of other losers on Sunday: Giants, Falcons (upset of the day), Bengals, Browns, Titans, Saints, Panthers, Bears, and 49ers. Steelers and Packers playing tonight.

.thumb.jpg.6ec1daf291cd6fd9ebc21f5205adf035.jpg) The Official National Hockey League Appreciation ThreadKarateKen replied to aurik's topic in General Chat The Hartford Whalers defeated the Quebec Nordiques on Thursday night, 5-4. It was the first time the two teams had faced each other in over 30 years when the Nordiques won 4-1 on May 3, 1995. The following season the Nordiques moved to Colorado and became the Avalanche, while the Whalers moved to Carolina to be the Hurricanes in 1997. Colorado and Carolina rolled back the clock three decades with the Hurricanes getting two points in the standings. I believe the teams have worn the throwback jersey's before and I think they scheduled do it again later in the season. I have an old school Nordiques hat and if I had known about that match up, I would have worn it tonight. Oh well. The San Jose Sharks also got their first win of the season, so now every team has at least one victory.

I've found a new favorite drink, virgin pina colada. However, I stop after one, and even then I feel kind of guilty because it is such a sugar bomb.

A very ugly performance by the Vikings on Thursday night. Coming off that loss to the Eagles they were hoping to bounce back, instead they got crushed by the Chargers 37-10. The Chargers ran right through the purple defense, and Carson Wentz is clearly not the solution for the Vikings as the grossly overpaid QB failed to get it done and might have been injured late in the game. After the big hit he was also seen on the sidelines throwing his helmet and screaming, clearly lots of frustration and anger boiling over for Wentz, and probably the entire team. The Vikings were 14-3 last year, second best record in the NFC, and are 3-4 so far this season. They play the Lions next Sunday, so it doesn't get any easier.

Woody Johnson is at it again, throwing his players under the bus. This time he called out QB Justin Fields saying, "It's hard when you have a quarterback with the rating we've got," after Fields was benched at halftime in Sunday's loss. He also said "if we could just complete a pass, it would look good. If you can't run the ball if you can't pass the ball, that is football 101." Football 101 is probably a class Johnson would fail miserably. Amazing that he continues to publicly shame his players but won't look into the mirror and take accountability for his failures as being the dumbest and most clueless owner in the NFL. The Jets could be the single worst run origination in all major professional sports leagues. The fact that Rex Ryan got the team to back-to-back AFC Championship games probably means he deserves hall of fame consideration. The Jets screw up every single thing they touch. Everything. Name one thing in the last 15 years the Jets have not screwed up. They screwed up Brett Favre, they screwed up Aaron Rodgers, they screwed up Chad Pennington, they screwed up Sam Darnold, and 25 years ago they screwed up Bill Belichick. This will be ten losing seasons in a row. You can fire the coaches, you can get new players, but you can't fire the owner. That is the problem. The problem is ownership. The one thing that has been consistent over 15 years of failure is the owner. As long as Woody is the owner the Jets will continue to be the laughingstock of the league.

Woo hoo! I am going to start the book tonight. It has been on my shelf for 12 or 13 years and finally I am going to read it. Thanks for the heads up!

Hey hey, slow down my man. Raiders are not the worst yet. Jets are 0-7 and still own that one. On a positive note, I had K. City in survivor league on Sunday, so I have lived to see at least one more week this season.

I actually got back tonight and was on Sunset Strip Saturday night. I'd be happy to hear any recommendations; I had a good time and hope to visit again. Thanks for the coffee offer, might take you up on that on my next visit. Besides Sunset I went to Manhattan beach, Long Beach, and the Hollywood sign.

.thumb.jpg.6ec1daf291cd6fd9ebc21f5205adf035.jpg) The Official National Hockey League Appreciation ThreadKarateKen replied to aurik's topic in General Chat In a move that has many people angry, the Vegas Golden Knights have signed goaltender Carter Hart. Hart has been out of the league for almost two years, last playing in January 2024. Hart was one of the players accused in the 2018 Canadian Juniors Sexual Assault Scandal. Hart was found not guilty in July, but many people are still very upset that he is getting a chance to play again. Due to NHL rules, Hart will not be eligible to play for the Knights until December 1. I expect him to be a big part of the team, especially if the Knights continue to have goaltending struggles like they have had in the first few games of the season.

You might have seen the viral video from serval weeks back when the lady at the Marlins game got in the face of a fan who gave a homerun ball to his son, thinking that she deserved the ball. The video created uproar online, the woman was outed and lost her job. The other night at the Brewers game another lady embarrassed herself by how she treated a fan, spewing racist remarks and verbal abuse. She also has been fired. It's a clown world after all.

Jake Matthews consecutive starts streak in in jeopardy after he suffered an ankle injury in Monday's game against the Bills. Matthews has started 183 games in a row, the longest streak of any active NFL player and the most by a left tackle in history. Matthews has only missed two games in his career, both due to an ankle injury in 2014. He is listed as day to day and missed practice on Wednesday. Falcons visit the 49ers on Sunday night.

.thumb.jpg.6ec1daf291cd6fd9ebc21f5205adf035.jpg) pace/speed in formsKarateKen replied to Spartacus Maximus's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion When I first started training kata was my least favorite thing to do. We used to have M-Thursday class, and I hated it on Thursday night when the last ten minutes was kata, because I knew I wasn't going to get to train anything else until Monday. As I got older kata became my favorite thing to train. One of my instructors was talking about forms and said, "students say kata is boring, but that means you are doing it wrong." That made me rethink it.
