  1. I agree, I did not think the Pats would be this bad, either. It will be interesting to see if this is the end of the line for Billicheck, or if the Pats give him as much leash as he's willing to take.Hard to believe it could get this bad, the team has regressed the last two years, and it is embarrassing now. In 2020 they fell off but that was not a surprise, then they had a better year in 21, making the playoffs with a rookie Mac Jones. However, they have gotten worse and worse since then, and so has the QB. Just three weeks ago I was still a defender of Jones, but not anymore. He makes too many bad throws at key moments in the game leading to interceptions, often when the team is in the red zone. Jones needs to be out of there, maybe he can go somewhere else and save his career, but it is clear the Patriots and Jones need to break up. One rumor is that Belichick will resign at the end of the season instead of being fired. Also that the LA Chargers, currently 4-7 and last place, will fire their head coach and the Chargers will try to get Belichick. Los Angeles seems like an odd place for Bill, not only is he anti much of what LA is about he has always been a northern and east coast coach. On top of that Bill will be 72 next season. Is a 72-year-old coach going to move to the opposite side of the country to start over with a new franchise? Seems unlikely, though strange things have happened over the years such as Favre to the Vikings. Like I said that is just a rumor and might have zero truth to it. By the way, the Patriots host the Chargers on Sunday.
  2. Time to revisit the question of whether or not Bill Belichick returns to the Patriots next season. Patriots are for sure the worst team in the AFC and could be the worst team in the NFL after that 10-7 loss to the Giants. I did not expect much from them this year, picked them last in the division, but no way did I think it would be this bad. Only Carolina has a worse record at 1-10.
  3. hi
  4. How disappointing.
  5. Saw a saying the other day that read "the purpose of life is living a life of purpose." I am not saying I agree or disagree, just passing it along.
  6. Hope everyone had a good time and safe travels, if applicable.
  7. Definitely feeling better, I quit spitting up the phlegm a few days ago and have been back at the gym for light workouts without any trouble.
  8. Well well. My mortal enemy. Who will witness this victory. Here's the deal: if you are trained in BJJ, for example, it is well know you will beat someone who isn't, regardless of any other factors, 99.99 percent of the time. Huh?
  9. Is the meaning of life to find happiness?
  10. Is it my imagination or are we seeing more fights in the early part of this season than we have seen in many years?
  11. With the comeback win against the Bears on Sunday the Lions improve to 8-2, the last time they won eight of their first ten games was in 1962!
  12. I love football this time of year, especially the Thanksgiving games. Growing up I looked forward to watching the Barry Sanders and the Lions every Thanksgiving and even though the Lions have lost a lot of turkey day games over the years I still look forward to seeing play just like I did when I was a kid. I hope they beat Green Bay on Thursday, which means the Lions could enter December in first place, something they have not done since 2014. Lions have not won a division title in 30 years, 1993, and have a chance to break that this season. They also have not won a playoff game since January of 1992, which is the only playoff win they have in the entire Super Bowl era. Lions are the only team in the league that have never been to the Super Bowl that also has been a franchise every single year the Super Bowl was played. The other three teams that have never been there are Jacksonville, Houston, and Cleveland. Jacksonville was not a team until the mid 1990s, and Houston (Texans) started playing in 2002 (Oilers never made it either). Cleveland moved to Baltimore for a few years and did not have a team before getting their team back in 1999. While about 1/3 of the current teams have never won the Super Bowl, those are the four that have not made it. Anyway, Go Lions!
  13. Do you remember the Ham Radio episode? That's the one where they do radio theater. It's the episode that made me laugh the hardest. I fully related to Niles losing it. LOL.
  14. There is a new twist in the tragic death of Adam Johnson. The England authorities have arrested a suspect, presumably Matt Petgrave, on manslaughter chargers. Petgrave was the other player in the collision with Johnson.
  15. Tough way for the Bills to lose on MNF. Bills lead by 1 with 12 seconds left, Broncos set up a FG and goes wide right, however the Bills get a penalty for 12 men on the field. Broncos re-kick and win the game.
  16. In this case, I'd take the experience of Iron Mike in his prime. That guy was a killer in the ring; I don't think Lebron had that about him. I guess that adds another attribute to the mix though, doesn't it? It's definitely another aspect. Size, strength and skill, but also speed, training style, endurance, intelligence, determination, physical and mental toughness all factor in.
  17. I'm sorry. That sounds terrible. Our family has gotten small too and it seems like every week I hear about someone else who is very sick or who recently died.
  18. Thanks, I spent most of the weekend in bed. Hopefully this passes soon.
  19. This is a terrible horror movie and there is no reason to watch it unless you enjoy remarkably and offensively bad films. The movie is called Thankskilling. A low budget horror film about a group of college students on Thanksgiving break who get attacked by a violent turkey. It is so stupid it has to be seen to be believed. If you watch it and enjoy it you might consider the sequel, Thankskilling 3. Note that this is NOT a family movie and should not be watched with children or anyone who is easily offended. Or anyone who is offendable.
  20. Oilers head coach Jay Woodcraft has been fired after the teams disappointing start. Oilers are 3-9-1. They hired AHL coach Kris Knoblock as the replacement. Maybe this will turn things around for the Oilers who are too talented to be near the bottom of the league.
  21. Remember the days when the football and baseball teams shared a stadium? You'd have football players running through the infield and looking like they stole second after every play. That was common 25 years ago but now they all have separate stadiums.
  22. I was a little worried I was getting too dark. I don't think it is strange to want to pass things along after you die, it is part of a legacy, leaving something important behind to remind people of what you were about. Also, others will benefit from the information. Different people have different ideas of what they want to do. I had a martial arts instructor tell me that he wants to be buried in his dobok.
  23. Wild back and forth game on Sunday between the Lions and Chargers with the Lions winning 41-38 on a FG as time ran out. Both teams were very aggressive. I tried to watch the 49ers and Jaguars but it was so lopsided I lost interest early. I can't get a read on SF, when they play well they look like they can beat anyone but when they are off, they look very mediocre. Well, I guess we could say that about a lot of teams. Ugly game by Mac Jones and another Patriots loss. Jones was benched in the 4th quarter after a terrible interception in the red zone. Jones has made some awful throws at key moments this season and they have proven to be costly. Looks like the Mac Jones experiment is done in New England, my guess is he gets traded in the offseason. The question now is, what about Belichick? Does he come back next year? Does he even make it to the end of this year?
  24. Is there anything you suggest for getting some exercise while feeling sick? Not anything strenuous, just something to get moving. I have been sick with a head cold all week, went to the gym yesterday and could tell within under 5 minutes that this wasn't gonna work, and went home.
  25. Somewhat tagging the "Meaning of Life" thread, what are some ways you have learned to accept and cope with death? Death of a relative, friend, a pet, or the inevitable death of yourself? About five years ago I lost someone close to me and I think I still have not fully recovered. Ever since then I have been thinking about how long I will live on a daily basis and sometimes just go to bed thankful that "I lived through another day." I am healthy and don't have a reason to believe it's likely I will die soon but I know that life can change fast and anyone can die on any given day. I have some trouble accepting that.
