  6. Hey mate, u've never seen proffessional chess its like lightning .
  7. Exactly.
  8. Both together is always best, but I think external is more important.
  9. What does this weapon look like?
  10. I dont really understand the question, are u saying would we use it in a real life situation, because if u r then i'll take that as a joke and pretend I didnt here it . Or Do you mean have a ever been in a street fight and used Karate against someone, if so the answer is no, not yet .
  11. I love Karate becuse its enjoyable, practical and keeps me fit, I love the grace of movement but also the power and style that comes with it, I love sparring and expressing my self through my body. I love the fact that I can walk down the street and have the complete confidence to defend myself. I think martial arts, whether it be Karate, TKD, kung fu, ju jitsu or whatever is a fantastic tradition, that deserves total respect. Think about it, were part of somthing that has evolved over hundreds of years to what it is today, right from the Shaolin temples of the Chinese mountains to the small Island of Okinawa, and although it may have changed somewhat from then, and the world around it has changed, it still holds the same traditions and core aspects that are tought today in Dojos all around the world. I feel proud to be part of it and I cant imagine my life without it. Amazing.
  12. I sure when u spar they wont be saying that when ur hook kicking their heads!
  13. I mostly go freestyle, feels more natural and alot faster, i'd only really do set combinations if I was practicing for a grading or touching up on a technique.
  14. The build I would like to achieve (my perfect build) is muscles not too big, body quite toned and very fast, I'd prefer a Darren Cambell type build over a proffesional weight lifter build.
  15. Are u sure about that? if he's on the defence then he's ready for it, if he's attacking then his focus is on hitting u, well thats my take on it.
  16. So is it better to relax right through a punch when ur shadow boxing? becuause i'm usually quite tense when I do it.
  17. Is it a good way to keep fit and what muscle groups does it work out? I know for boxers its essential to success.
  18. If ur real big, then ur gonna have to work hard to keep ur speed up to scratch, I mean I wouldnt call Heavyweight Boxers slow, they've got hands like lightning, and of course we cant forget Ali, "Move like a butterfly and sting like a bee!".
  19. I dont know how many exactly is its impossible to tell because alot of clubs are independant, its a very popular sport in the UK (can I call it a sport) but remember its not just Karate. TKD, Judo, Kung fu, Kickboxing, ju jitsu and Muay thai are among the popular ones.
  20. Renketsu, my clubs part of the AMA too, but the gradings are set out by The Contact Karate Organisation, which I think owns or is owned by the AMA. Theres a real Mcdojo near me, its actually our clubs arch nemisis, they had a tournement one year and our team whiped theirs (They'll all dirty fighters), its owned by this guy who drives around in like a £60k sportscar (its a chain of clubs, rip off prices), anyway he charges about £100 for Kyu gradings and god knows what for Dan gradings, classic Mcdojo.
  21. usually every lesson.
  22. We always do continuous, unless its a special occasion where two ppl are sparring on their own in front of the whole club, like for a grading or somthing.
  23. The ability to do the splits, shows u are able to kick high, faster, without injury and one hundred other things, the ability to do the splits is what all martial artists should strive to do even as they grow older and shows a good level of fitness, the hardest part is continuing to do so, cuz if u leave it a while u'll find that u no longer can. Its definatly not showing off, its just that their jealous that they cant!
  24. The treadmill is meant to be the best form of aeorobic exercise (obviously it cant beat the real thing) equipment, start jogging everyday, go to the gym regualy, have a nice healthy diet, calsinthetics and weights are good but dont over do it just yet. Basically keep running, swimming, biking or whatever, aerobic is ur primary objective and weights secondary. Remember push beyond ur limits, when u exercise ur building up to that point where u cant do anymore, at its past that point where u begin to burn the fat and bring on the muscle, get to that point and focus keep pumping those muscles, let the swet drip down u, feel that burning sensation, keep going till the latic acid becomes just to much; remember determination; dont give up. U keep that up and ur on the way. Also just to help tone ur features why not try isometrics, or even better Dynamic Strength Exercises(similar to isometrics), try the link and check out this book on amazon(Dynamic Strength by Harry Wong), the exercises in it are fantastic, all the benefits of weight training and isometrics and non of the drawbacks, all u need is ur body no equipment plus the exercies are really easy to do, this is very good for building strength and flexibility and greatly effects ur martial arts, give it a try. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0865680132/qid=1074257689/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/103-9488893-6195803
  25. Remember most gyms do have programs that u can undertake, talk to the fitness guys at ur local gym get them to set u up on a fitness program, there'll ask what u want to improve on and then they'll find u the right one.
