yep, ive got a book called Dynamic strength by Harry Wong, its fantastic, its basically the same as isometrics except instead of static movements their dynamic which means u strengthen a range of muscles. Its a reveloutionary system of resistance training. Go on https://www.Amazon.co.uk or https://www.Blitzsport.com to get it, its really cheap about £4.50. The hole books got about 30 exercies and warm-ups with pictures and it explains exactly which muscles ur strengthening and how it will effect your martial arts. Give it a try, hope this helps. p.s try this link to go straight 2 it: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0865680132/qid=1073411501/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_3_1/026-3538789-5351645

You seem to know what ur talking about, your probably in the right. It says this book in front of me (Nunchaku the complete training guide by Jiro Shiroma) that the sai was "A curved blade attached to a wood handle which cut grain stalks". Does anyone know how to use the chucks cuz a bought this book to learn how to use them; I tell ya its is friggen hard, i've given up, it must take loads and loads of practice, some of the techniques in the book are so hard to perform. I like to use the Jodan Yoko Kamae figure of 8 (only one i can do!), good at building the forearm and wrist. Its a good book though; if your've got the stomach for it, u can get it from https://www.blitzsport.com

Is it true that if you do lots of reps with an exercise but with less power/tension u build better muscle definition and if you do less reps with an exercise but with lots of power/tension you build muscle bulk?
-
building muscle mass.
-
true, I think that if your bicep and tricep were greatly unbalanced you would have serious problems with some movements.
-
I have the book, your right, it says in antcient chinese history it was origionally used as horse bridles but came into historical prominence when it was used on the ryukyu islands (okinwana) for beating rice.

No guys, u've missread what I was saying, i know weights are a form of resistance training but i was talking about a form of body only resistance training called Dynamic Strength Exercises, its using your own muscles as a resistance, its similar to isometrics except isometrics enphasize on static movments wereas dynamic strength is performed with a full range of movement, which enhances the muscles range of flexability, speed, power with movement. READ THE BOOK and your'll see .

The Last Samurai

I'm gonna see it tomoz one question is there any martial arts in it (other than sword arts) like Kung fu. -
You missed out nunchkau which were used 4 beating rice. There is a book called 'Complete book of Karate weapons' by 'Theodore Gambordella' former US Karate champion and Weapons Champion and its states that the main okinwana weapons were those I listed. However the other weapons that people have mentioned may not have been mainsteam okinwana weapons but may have grown in popularity nowadays and so people may think they are.

I prefer the roundhouse because it feels more natural, but I do think the reverse does a good job of braking noses

When I think about it triceps r so much better than biceps when it comes to striking techniques in martial arts, but everyone wants bigger biceps! (impress the girls maybe?!) what do u think?
-
What are the best exercise's to improve your pectoral muscles, and i dont mean using weights or equpiment I mean things you can do with just ur body, like in resistance training 4 example.
-
NO NO NO NO NO NO, of course not thats a great age to join Karate, it means that all the teaching will sink in compared 2 if ur a little kid and u dont take it seriously plus ur body is at its maximum potential. Too early! -my god...

Just 2 answer all your questions about WHY ITS NOT ON HERE, the ones I picked r the main karate weapons that were used in Okinawan against the invaders, they all originate from farming and fishing tools. Thats the reason they are called Karate weapons, other weapons were probably created after the occupation of okinawan and r not true traditional karate weapons .
