What would you do in this situation ie. what combos, techniques etc would you perform: Walking home you are jumped from behind and dragged into an alleyway, your opponent has a tight grip on your neck, another man approaches slowy from the front, they may be trying to rob you. What do you do?

What would you do in this situation ie. what combos, techniques etc would you perform: A man storms towards from the front (about 10ft away), he's obviously very angry with you and he looks like he is going to swing for you instantly when he gets in range, at the same time his friend is coming at your left flank (he's 5ft away) they are both very angry (maybe drunk). You are cornered so you cannot escape. What do you do?

The nunchuka is so cool, especially in the hands of an expert --> bruce Lee . Whats the best material for nunckuka's, I heard it was white wax wood used by the shaolin monks for hundreds of years. Sai's are pretty cool too.

I practice Trodai Karate. It consists of a blend of many different styles of karate, with a strong focus on self defence. Our stances are high and there is a good mix of punching and kicking (Although there are slightly more puching techniques). When you get to purple belt you train heavly in grappling and floor fighting. We sparr in semi contact. Stick fighting is the only weapon we use, that is studied briefly at black belt level. Knife defence is a large part of are style. Trodai karate is fast and powerful.

I agree that mcdojos are very wrong, they dont just dishonour your MA but they are also dangerous, for example a kid who goes to one of these mcdojos, learns a few techniques from his "expert" sensei and finds himself in a fight one night, he tries to use them and gets his head kicked in because what he was taught was wrong . Although i'm not saying that all dojos are like this, infact its probably only a small fraction that are, but it pis**s me off that it happens, and guess what at the end of the day it all comes down to money.

Flexability is a huge part of karate and of any martial art. Now I know you cannot become ultimatly flexable in a matter of days (or weeks and months) but what are the best ways to keep yourself supple and improve on it. Also the spilts, what are the best stretching techniques to help your go all the way, Discuss. Important: Do not give information about stretching unless you know what your talking about, it is very dangerous.
-
Hobbitbob and Rich u guys seem to know what your talking about and look like you have some experience, if you were attacked and the worst came to the worst, how would you deal with an attacker with a knife with an intent to kill you. I have been taught many ways to disarm a knife in Trodai Karate (focused majorly on self defence) but in the moment when your attacker strikes the fear of the knife and getting stabbed may overcome your teachniques and composure. Whats your opinion on this.

I've got a question whats is "Bruce Lee's 1inch punch" and how is it executed.
-
Where are the best pressure points on the human body and what kind of techniques utilize them the most effectively, furthermore do you think some pressure points are far to dangerous to use in any situation, discuss.
-
Fireka you said u would be merciless and punch a man whens he down, but when would u finish the attack? when he's totally imobilised, when he's dead? MA's teach self defence I think that attacking like that is very dangerous. I do agree that u should attack with very little mercy towards your opponent for your own self preservation but you must draw a line somewhere.
-
In a real fight kicking is a much more devestating technique than puching IF you know how to do it propley. Anyone can punch someone, its not hard. But to perform a good efficient kick takes skill and experience. I think unless your a very good kicker its best to keep your kicks low. A good kick to the groin or shin can be devestating. I dont know about u guys but do u find it hard to kick high with shoes on?
-
I'd use mainly punching techniques, keep the kicks low and stay in a left stance. I think kicking high is dangerous towards the kicker, they can be easly intercepted besides a good low kick in the groin or shin can do extesive damage.
-
Okay, using karate if you were attacked would you use all your techniques you've learnt, would you enter a clear stance, keep your guard up high, would you use any high kicks. I'm just wondering what you would be thinking in a real fight situation and how you would react to it. Many people lose there composure and just throw a load of crude punches without any thought to what they have learnt.

Well watch Enter the Dragon, at the start BL spars with a guy (kicks his ass) it was full contact with nothing more than gloves, apparantly he sparred like that in real life. -
Martial Artists, tell me this:...
Rich_2k3 replied to Iron Fist 05's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Ignorance. Total Ignorance. Next time they say that beat them to an inch of there life and say "Is that proof?" Only joking, martial arts is for self defence. -
Kung Fu is supposedly the most efficient martial art, becuase of its strong emphasis on pressure points, I would probalbly say the most efficient styles of Kung fu are Jeet kun do and Wing chun. Although these MA's utilies mostly striking techniques, a MA like Jui jistu or Judo focus on grappling and throws, i suppose it depends on which way u look at it.
-
Karate has some very effective hand techniques, and so does Wing chun kung fu, i'd suggest karate.
