basically he buries his face in your body and his waist is probably bent to 45 degrees and he begins pummeling like mad. -

MA, what if he turned to face you after you stepped out of the way? -

Lol, i ask this because I was watching two of my friends spar and one dropped his head down and started punching madly at his stomach while kneeing him(straight punches) and punished the other fighter. However, the other fighter weighed 1oo pounds and did Modern wushu -
Sorry I need to vent!

I know how you feel. I had the same problem at my old TKD mcdojo. I, 13 years old, was by far the oldest in the class and since I'm quite young, that's saying something. The class description and the teacher never mentioned anything about the age group, and I wasn't allowed to watch classes. When I sparred, I was like why the heck would I ever do this in a real fight. And then, this black belt was fighting a slightly older white belt (who didn't know the rules) when the white belt grabbed one of the black belt's legs while he was kicking. The white belt proceeded to pound the black belt's face while the black belt was crying "you can't do that!" That was the last straw and I realized I would never actually use TKD in a fight. -
other ideas? sano, how do knuckle push ups increase hand speed?

AUSSIE, you may be new to this forum. However, when you answer with a 'yes' or a 'no', you should give details and explain your answer.

"the man with no style".... this is certainly bruce lee's dream student! lol

HAHAHAHA that video is hilarious. But that's Tae Kwon Do, not Karate
-
but you need a degree of talent to be good
-
He definently practices... he probably learns some on the internet and from books and stuff but is too embarrased to admit it.
-
no because only Mcdojos tell people that they can beat Wild animals. I mean if a martial artist engaged a hungry lion he would probably be history. Martial arts simply are designed to be used against animals. His instructor should be sent to jail and his dojo burned (or sold ).

aznkarateboi replied to pcam16's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
its a kick in which you jump over sideways and flare your feet over your head, basically a feet of great acrobatic skill, without much martial use -
Exactly. Talent is natural, you're born with it or you're not. That's what I mean by, it's impossible for one to become talented.
-
He's not talented at fighting "from watching movies". You can't "become" talented. But trust me, pro wrestling is all fake. So unless he has a great physical strength advantage, pro wrestling simply can't stand up to BJJ.
-
I would recommend learning a grappling art. You can't learn to defend against grapplers by watching movies
-
He is simply very talented at fighting.

I train for fun and self defense and physical exercise
-
Interesting. But I'd like to point out that the same thing would probably happen to a practitioner of any other martial art.

TKD bashing?
aznkarateboi replied to NightShade_UK's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I don't know about WTF and ITF but I've seen many commercial TKD schools and this was the case. And yes, I do think that WTF olympic sparrign isn't so effective for self defense. -
Sparring Question
aznkarateboi replied to Asahi1265's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Sparring only with big boys with one thing, but if I was a full grown man I wouldn't just want to spar with little kids. -
Sparring Question

I think you should spend more time thinking about the decision. What else can you tell us about your school? -
Are you taking Shaolin Kenpo or American Kenpo? Basically, from what I've heard, American Kenpo is a very effective style designed to be used on American streets. It probably isn't designed for NHB fighting, but it is effective for self defense. Unlike TKD, it has efficient techniques and concentrates 70% on hand techniques. It focuses on development of speed in hand techniques.
