  1. What's with the whole 'Dances with wolves" comparison. It has similarities but you can make parallels with other movies as well. I think it was just about as good as "Last of the Mohicans", which was also a pretty good movie. This movie is by no means the greatest movie I've ever seen, but it was pretty good.
  2. Sure that go for everything, but I don't think the concepts are beyond me that's all. I'll get around to BJJ when the prices come down.
  3. All fighters of equal skill in a real fight and all arts from the best of the best schools, I'd have to say the Jujitsu practioner would rule. This is my opinion based on the fact that out of the 3 arts mentioned this is the most wholistic of them.
  4. Venezolano said: I agree with this statement you made, but there are many grappling arts that will work well in this situation.
  5. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
  6. Usually Ichimonji or Jumonji.
  7. I just think it's more marketing tactics. What does Christian MA's even mean. Who cares if it's Christian or Buddist or Atheist as long as it works. Personally I wouldn't want some religious overtones in my MA's teachings, it's just not the place for worship. I'm by no means criticising anyones religion, because I can respect peoples beliefs. The only thing is that naming a MA after a religion just seems questionable to me.
  8. SevenStar I never said that I've done them, but I sure have a better understanding of what happening then the average Joe. I don't have anything against BJJ I just don't like the practitioners who bash everything that's not BJJ. When I get around to it I'll start studying it. I think if you are unlucky enough to be taken down you should know what to do. I've had groundfighting taught to me, but I'm no expert. I really think I could learn it faster then most people because of my experience, but I can't say the same for people trying to learn Budo Taijutsu.
  9. Do you think weapons training helps your unarmed skills or not? Please give examples why or why not.
  10. O.K. I'll get back to the topic, yes BJJ would still be in the dark due to the fact no one would see it. UFC was a great place for them to showcase their skills. It's amazing what they have done. But nonetheless it is still primarily a one on one type of groundfighting art. It is not complete and I feel if they just added the strikes and kicks of TJJ it would help round it out a bit more. I think it needs to evolve into that so that you don't need to cross train. As long as they use the proper training methods I think it would be awesome. Venezolano don't be so sure I can't fight on the ground. I am much more familiar with BJJ than you will ever be with Budo Taijutsu. My friend teaches for the Machado Bros. I can learn what you are learning, but you don't have what it takes to learn Budo Taijutsu, it's beyond your comprehension. Sorry bro, the truth hurts I know.
  11. Actually you misunderstood me you can go to the left or to the right from that position and our stances change the leading foot all the time. Also we have a stance called hira that doesn't have a leading foot so I know where your attack is coming from. I can also go forward which you left out. Forward to the left or to the right. That's what I meant. So I could leave a nice target for you and move in as you take it. I still feel having the majority of your weight on the real leg is better, but that's my opinion. Yes, I forgot the cross step which is very useful, but only as a transition.
  12. Dude I can tell you are still a kid. You don't have real experience and more than likely more than likely if you fought someone that had a knife it would be too late for you. You are too overconfident and you are looking at masters like the Gracie's at work and you think you can do what they do. Give yourself another 10 years and maybe you will be as good as the Gracies, but the way you talk I know fighting you wouldn't be a fight at all. You have no idea what I'm capable, but I can already see your weakeness. It would be too easy for me to psych you out. You say Budo Taijutsu doesn't work, how would you know? You only know what you've studied. You base your opinions on what you saw in a competition. You didn't formulate your opinions based on your own experience. That's just ignorant, you are still a child.
  13. It says TMA vs. Grappler. It's still a grappling art, it's still extremely effective and does teach ground fighting, but it does not specialize in ground fight like BJJ. But BJJ also has it's weaknesses and strengths.
  14. What great is I can look at BJJ techniques and figure out what's really happening with the technique, because of what I'm studying. BJJ is great at using leverage and natural body weight for certain techniques. Although there are many where strength is essential, but I guess that goes for almost any MA.
  15. If the weight is mostly on the back leg you are actually quite mobile side to side and front, but not back.
  16. True if his knee is bent it may not work. But the round kick to the outside of the knee works better if the person is support his weight on it. What if the support is on the rear leg. Do you feel it will have the same effect on a leg that's not grounded?
  17. What the hell do you think TJJ is? It's a grappling art.
  18. You don't know what you are talking about. You don't need to be strong to do TJJ. It really depends on what TJJ you are talking about. Budo Taijutsu doesn't use strength, it uses structure and balance. Dude you are completely ignorant and I don't appreciate you insulting me. You are so BJJ brain washed. You don't know what you are talking about. Dude believe me Budo Taijutsu self defense techniques are far more realistic the that horrible stuff in the Gracie Street Defense book. The striking we learn alone is very effective. If you saw it you'd say "Hey that kind of looks like boxing." So what if they train the Marines, what do the special forces guys train? What does CIA do? It's still a one on one MA no matter what you say. It's not practical by itself in Combat. Where is the training with weapons? Like the knife, stick, chain, rope, throwing weapons? What you don't think knowing how to fight with a weapon in Combat is important? You are the one being a Moron.
  19. Just imagine a stomp to the knee, you won't deaden it you will break it. I'd say that's as effective as you want to get. A groin kick with a stomp kick is different to what you might be thinking. The stomp kick drives thru the person, they will be on their rump.
  20. Pressure points the way I understand them just cause a slight reaction just to buy you a split second in order to do something effective, like a takedown or strike. I train for real situations as best I can. I don't really see my self as a competitor, It's just not what I'm about. I respect ring fighters, believe me they are the last people I would want to fight. But if it happens I'll just have to do what I can. I do want to find a place where I can go full contact with someone with gear of course. I eventually will add some BJJ to my skills if I don't see some serious groundfighting in Budo Taijutsu very soon. We've done some, but I don't feel it's enough yet.
  21. Most asian MA's derived from Chinese MA's. Did they change? Some a lot, some very little.
  22. Well I would say you are MMA specialist then.
  23. No they didn't take the techniques from TJJ they either didn't understand or couldn't make work. For your information Budo Taijutsu is TJJ and we are evolving with the times and with incorporating weapons defences and gun training. Does BJJ? No, because it's one on one wrestling.
  24. You never know, don't be so sure. Overconfidence is a double edged sword.
  25. Who said anything about pressure points. Dude you're just being silly. Where do you think everything you've learned originated from? You probably don't know do you.
